"Still in all, I doubt you are a brucepert." Funny stuff. I am still working at being a "brucepert". Perhaps I will get it right before I move on to the next life? |

I cleaned the kitchen floor once, got it all "spic-and-span." Where in heck did THAT term originate? LOL! I like saurkraut! Odd, Yes, "Greco-Roman" is the type of wrestling in which Rulon Gardner contested. The other is called "freestyle." Not sure they oil up. That would get the mat all messy/slippery/slidy. Ewwwwyuck! Wrestling is one of the most physically demanding sports there is. Big respect due to those who do it. Homophobes need not apply. (Message edited by blake on January 05, 2006) |

A number of my friends are French, does this make me socially unacceptable? They mostly call me a Rosbif (as in roast beef)& I call them Frogs, nobody throws their toys out of the pram, & the PC police haven't called yet. A number of my friends are American, does this make them socially unacceptable. They call me a Limey, I call them collect! Oh just a little thing, can we keep the noise down please, my Chicago informant is back, but he's feeling a little fragile. |

bruce claimed, after innumerable racist slurs, that his best friend is black. i questioned the veracity of that statement. i stated, after stating no slurs of any kind, days before bruce's thread, that my best friend is, like myself, a caucasian. a spaniard, more specifically. what about my statement would arouse incredulity? and what about bruce's would NOT, esp. considering it's a cliched phrase espoused by many a caucasoid when confronted with thier racist slurs? anyone wanna help mr. tc out? nice try, tc. |

Brucelee said: "I don't believe that I uttered any racist slurs. In fact, I was making light of them." exactly one week after posting: " Brucelee Rating: N/A Votes: 0 (Vote!) I believe some of the following are slurs, as well, and there were others prior to the three deits on the quoted post, alone): "Brucelee Rating: N/A Votes: 0 (Vote!) In many of the posts here I have seen a lot of "academic" usage of many slurs. Is a slur only a slur when utter with true contempt or maliciousness? Or is a slur always a slur regardless of how uttered and by whom? Talk amongst yourselves... P.S. Tcskptic - please don't read the playa hater comment as directed at you. I was trying to be funny by making a general statement. A lot of non-verbal communication and nuances are totally lost in this medium. bruce satted that he doesn't believ he uttered any slurs. quoting still requires uttering, although in this medium, obviously, it's non-verbal. best part is, i agree with just about everything brucelee states, through these quotes and in his other posts.... just responding to mr. skeptic's quaint 'i don't get it' BS. |

Well Tramp, you are being disingenuous and you know it. Using the dictionary to define what a term means is not a racial slur, simply provides clarity on what the term means. Poking fun at your OWN ethnic background is not a racial slur, simply indicates you are not bothered by them. Quoting Blazing Saddles is not a racial slur. If it is, take it up with Mel Brooks, as he wrote the lines. The remainder of what I wrote are not racial slurs no matter how you want to construe it. I had expected better of you. And I still don't have any Western Latino brothers! The only brother I have lives in New Jersey, unless of course my mother didn't tell me everything. |

not me. all men, until they prove otherwise, are my brethren. you said you never uttered a racial slur. i cited cases whereby you did. doesn't matter if they weree quotes or not, the slurs were 'uttered'. nothing disingenious about dat dere, bre'r bruce..... |

So since: 1) You quoted Bruce's slurs and 2) You said (of Bruce) "doesn't matter if they weree quotes or not, the slurs were 'uttered'" Therefore 3) You have now "uttered" the same "slurs" as bruce. Maybe you should apologize for your disgusting racist behavior. Is this all because Bruce made fun of the French? Cuz' the French suck. The can't even pronounce Notre Dame right, and thats like a FREAKING FRENCH NAME. Jeez. P.S. "not me. all men, until they prove otherwise, are my brethren. " Now, Tramp- "ALL" men? c'mon. the "ALL" part. I'd be shocked to hear .... |

OK-I'll play- here's how brucelee mentioneed his alleged best friend being black- he used the old {and george carlin fans will know what i'm talking about, here, "who happens to be black" line}, and further uses this alleged 'friend' to justify a quote about "nigger" s: Brucelee Rating: N/A Votes: 0 (Vote!) Posted on Tuesday, January 03, 2006 - 10:12 am: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The more you go down this road, the lighter the topic becomes. My best buddy (who happens to be black) once told me, "Everyone gets to be SOMEBODY'S nigger." I grew up in a largely black housing project. Being white there was VERY interesting indeed! " (end brucelee quote) This "my best friend who happens to be black" thing is rarely, esp. when it's being used to pseudosubstantiate a quote which uses "nigger" in it, true. now Tcsceptic will continue the threadstalk, likely based upon past credibilty issues, and this is his right. I'm convinced that brucelee will post his wedding picture showing his african american best man standing beside him, however, so as to end any such controversy. and, incidentally, Tcsceptic- while you're impotently questioning and quoting my post where i state that all men are my brothers until they prove otherwise, you really ought not omit the 'until they prove otherwise' part of my statement. excising, out of content, portions of quotes which condition the cited portion, reflects dishonesty and admission of a poor argument your part. |

Well, Tramp, the facts are the facts, the truth the truth! I would know a bit more about my life than say, you would. If you say, "all men are my brothers" I will take you at your word. You certainly know how you view the world better than I do. I don't share that sentiment, but that is just how I see the world. To me, all men, are, well all men. If I take you at your word about this "brothers" statement, perhaps you can take me at mine. Or, you can insist that I am lying and you are not. That is your call! |

For another slice of this discussion. From today's WSJ An African Music Star Uses Fame and Wealth To Help Fellow Albinos Salif Keita Fights Prejudice After a Tough Childhood; Superstitions, Abductions By YAROSLAV TROFIMOV Staff Reporter of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL January 6, 2006; Page A1 BAMAKO, Mali -- Salif Keita says that when he was born in a village south of here, his father recoiled in horror and expelled both Salif and his mother. "What is this thing?" the father wondered aloud. The reason: Mr. Keita -- now one of the most popular African singers, with several hit albums and a big international audience -- is a black man with white skin. Like millions of people around the world, Mr. Keita has a genetic condition known as albinism, which deprives skin, hair and sometimes eyes of pigmentation. In North America and Europe, albinos lead relatively normal lives, though many must contend with poor eyesight. But for albinos here in Africa, so starkly diverse in appearance from their neighbors, life is complicated by prejudice and illness. Albinism in parts of Africa is estimated to affect as many as one in a thousand people. In many traditional African cultures, including Mali's, albinos are seen as bearers of bad luck. Many are abandoned at birth or even slaughtered in ritual sacrifice. "We are different. When people see us on the street, they usually spit on the ground in disgust," Mr. Keita says. "What can be worse than this?" Then, there is the relentless African sun, from which the albinos' pigment-less skin offers little protection. "Skin cancers among the albinos here usually start in adolescence," Somita Keita, head of the dermatology department at the Mali University clinic, explained as a 9-year-old albino girl, splattered with black sunburn blotches, waited outside. "An albino who survives to the age of 40 or 50 isn't something we often get to see here," he said. The 56-year-old musician -- who is not related to Dr. Keita -- is one of the rare survivors. He is a world-music star who packs concert halls in Paris and Rome, and who plans to tour the U.S. this year. Mr. Keita is also the best-known albino in Africa. Having suffered so much in his youth, he's using his fame and wealth to improve the fortunes of other albinos. "My goal is to make sure that albinos are treated like normal people," Mr. Keita says, sipping a tiny glass of sweet Malian tea in Moffou, a culture center that he built on the outskirts of Bamako, the capital of Mali. Returning from a European concert tour before Christmas, he brought 1,500 tubes of sunscreen, a simple treatment helpful in preventing skin cancer but that, because it is expensive, remains well beyond the reach of most Malian albinos. |

Tramptacular- I said: P.S. "not me. all men, until they prove otherwise, are my brethren. " You said: "while you're impotently questioning and quoting my post where i state that all men are my brothers until they prove otherwise, you really ought not omit the 'until they prove otherwise' part of my statement." Um... When I quoted your statement I did not omit that phrase. But beyond that, it is just such a fatuous thing to say. You treat no one with caution? There are no people you've ever met that you had a feeling about and wouldn't turn your back on? I just don't believe you. TC |

"all men, regardless of brotherhood or not, are, of course, all men." Amen. Scrabble anytime. My family generally plays a word stealing game called anagrams instead. However due to the stealing it becomes a full contact sport, and is generally less civil than this board. I think it may have ended a couple of marriages. |
