tramp,
worked in the loaf yesterday, off pine hill road. couple of souls out on the ice around 2pm, tapped the horn a few times just in case you could see us. no buell out on the ice though so not sure if you were there.

That's funny.
Sucks that I didn't get out yesterday, I drove by the lake going to and from the laundromat and saw a guy set up out in 'my' spot, near the little rock outcrop across teh lake from the road, known simply, as "catfish Rock".
i've been stealing Z-girls subaru, as I can carry more spackle buckets full of equipment with it.
I grew up on pine hill rd. which house were you on?

the icefishing type.
involves a spackle bucket fulla tip-ups & jigging rods, a spackle bucket fulla minnows, and a spackle bucket for carrying live fish home/to other bodies of water.
I'm trying to figure out which house is 696, and which farm you're referring to. the old white barn horsefarm, or Joe bender's ranch?
I grew up at the intersection of Hambletonian and pine hill, And I lived most recently at the corner of pine shill, goelet rd. and glenmere ave, at The Glenmere Estate, whose iron gates you'll seee at that ned of the road.

I just drove past the place- nice work.
yep- across from the glenmere dresssage center.
I .lived up on the hill behind it, on the grounds of the 1912 Tuscan Villa and estate "Glenmere".
I did S&M there. (security and Maintenance).
That's actually Golet Rd., but tyhe new people (ie everyone living along it) call it Pine Hill Rd. ...I wish they'd all move back to Jersey.
lemme know if you're out that way again for anything, Mike- I'll bring you up to the etstate and give you a tour. The Tuscan Mansion's really beautiful- the owner's a great guy- he sold the Chelsea piers to the developer who made them into the big complex we now know them as. Real bunch of characters up on the estate, I still service all his Harleys and the Lamborghini tractor.

Mike- this is the Villa up on the hill behind the job you were at, today. (the house you worked on would be to your left as you view this shot, down at the foot of the hill- can't see it from down there, long driveway up past the big iron gates at the corner. the mansion overlooks the reservoir, where I fish)
Babe Ruth and The Duke and Dutchess of windsor were regular resident visitors...
see all that pretty paint (western Taupe) and the pretty clay roofs? much of that is my work, as is the new crowning on all 14 of those 'chimbleys' up top....

Glenmere

That bar's been sold awhile ago, it's going to be a landscape center and nursery. Haven't tended bar since then (August).
there are some other great places around, though.
Not nearly as outside the law and zany as that one, but.....
Z-Girl bartends tonight at the place you picked me up when we brought the xb up to danbury, though.
It's really posh, but often really empty as well, and the owners are good friends of mine.
and it's close to your place.
and Hammer's.

sounds good to me.
hope all is well with the new addition at hammers place. dude's got one tough situation.

just picked up a 16.5ft canoe from thruway for my employee, his wife got it for him for xmas. too cool, had it sticking out of the back of the box truck (box is 15.5ft). looks like i might acutally learn a thing or two about fishing this year. now how to explain to the wife why we have a boat strapped to the top of the gutter truck this spring. really, were going to work!...

shame about the bar, guess it's the end of the only motorcycle specific parking spots around.

the bar right next door to me is the one with the scoot parking, mike, rest easy
the place where I worked, on the other side of the tracks, is the one that's closed.
I seriously enjoyed myself there, I love bartending at bike places.

All I ask is a 1 -2 day notice and I'll take a ride over yonder. I don't need to much convincingto hang out. I actually like you guys LOL.

A friend of mine plays in a southern rock band on your side of the river. Iron Horse Band, ever hear of them? He rides and they generally play at bike friendly joints. They are also looking to be a regular Thursday night billing at Don's Neighborhood Grill on 9W. Nothing on paper yet though. Might be a good hangout idea.

Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah.

As the weather becomes more temperate I believe a gathering on my side of the river would be in order as well.

definitely a gathering on your side o' the river!
wqe going walleye fishing on your side?
(hint...hint hint hint...)
incidentally, there's a great motorcycle bar in Newburgh we could meet up at, as well (town, not city)
great place- owned by East Side Choppers, OCC dropouts with a cool shop. A little 'clubby', but no problems for us, there, whatsoever.

Tramp - serious uncharacteristically warm conditions in the valley here have prevented a safe ice cover on our deep water lake. Normally we are well frozen by December. Things have been strange lately. I will call you as soon as Operation Walleye goes into effect. If you can catch them and cook them, I'll provide the stove space and the seasonings.

me too.
some a*&hole from "The Horse BC" magazine who lived here in my town for a few years decided
to goof on those guys, his idiotic BS is in the latest issue of The Horse.
He's no longer welcome here. those OCC guys aren't hurting anyone with their contraptions.
I just saw the latest issue of The Horse BC at wal-Mart, with his idiotic BS busting on them on the last two pages.
really stupid.
Those OCC guys are OK, even if I don't dig the stuff they assemble

What kind of winter is this? I've burned through very little firewood. I've yet to be knee deep in snow. I swear I saw my Suzuki quad yawning the other day. There are still whitecaps on the lake, and tonight they're calling for a balmy 18 degrees. This ain't winter. I need some ice on my lake dam&it!
