I remember when Kodiak got their first traffic light. It worked for 3 days then was turned off for three years. Now I live in a town that has only one traffic light. It blinks red on one side and yellow on another. The next town over they gots one o those ones that not only has the three colors but after 7pm in the winter they just make it blink. Some of the towns have a real fancy one that when it is red the center strobes to get your attention. Ahhh progress.

we still don't have one. wellll...actually, the town has plenty, but my hamlet doesn't. Our hamlet has one main street and it's own post office, a few taverns and restaurants at any given time, many craft shops, a deli, and, formerly, a motorcycle clubhouse. it's policed by the greater town, and the town court jurisdicts over the hamlet. |

Wow you have a traffic light?! I'm jealous. The closest we have to one is in the town of Olema where there is a flashing red light at the one & only stop sign. |

My town is about 9,000. The thing that I have learned is to be careful what you say about someone, the person you are talking to is probably related to them. |

When I saw this thread I started laughing!! This photo is from our Arkansas trip last summer. We had to ride through Ralph, AR. (my real name is Ralph). This is the Ralph City Hall I'm standing in front of so this gives you an idea of how small this place is! What you can't see is the giant Confederate flag hanging on the fence to my right! Needless to say we didn't hang around town long.

My parents live outside a small town. Pop 350. one tractor supply shop, one little store, one church, one school, one 4-way flashing light, two one tavern (one burned down last month). We moved there when I was 12. Note I said "outside" of town. Until I moved out on my own, the only time I'd lived in a "city" was 3mo in an apartment in San Diego when I was 8. Now I'm city-fied (8 years in a town, pop 8000) and a shame to my family |

"...This is the Ralph City Hall I'm standing in front of so this gives you an idea of how small this place is!.." Yah know, if that building didn't make itself know it was a city hall, I would have sworn it was some old lady's front porch |

I never did the demo rides. To slow for me. I had been interested in the Buells for some time. When the X came out and the mags from the UK said it was the best Buell yet to carve corners with I decided that I would try one. So I started looking for one and found my 05 at such a deal that I just bought it. So far I am very happy. I have got her dialed in to my liking and we go pretty darn quick in the mountains. I hope to see you at Suches and maybe I can take you guys on a fun ride. |

You Might Be From A Small Town If......... 1. You can name everyone you graduated with. 2. You know what 4-H is. 3. You ever went to parties at a pasture, barn, or in the middle of a dirt road. 4. You used to drag "main." 5. You said the 'f' word and your parents knew within the hour. 6. You schedule parties around the schedule of different police officers, since you know which ones would bust you and which ones wouldn't---same goes with the game warden. 7. You ever went cow-tipping or snipe hunting. 8. School gets canceled for state sporting events. 9. It was cool to date someone from the neighboring town. 10. You had senior skip day. 11. You can't help but date a friend's ex-girlfriend. 12. Your car stays filthy because of the dirt roads, and you will never own a dark vehicle for this reason. 13. The town next to you is considered "trashy" or "snooty", but is actually just like your town. 14. Getting paid minimum wage is considered a raise. 15. You bragged to your friends because you got pipes on your truck for your birthday. 16. Anyone you want can be found at either the Dairy Queen or the feed store. 17. You see at least one friend a week driving a tractor through town. 18. Football coaches suggest that you haul hay for the summer to get stronger. **19. Directions are given using "the" stop light as a reference. 20. Your letter jacket was worn after your 19th birthday. 21. Weekend excitement involves a trip to a Wal-Mart. 22. Even the ugly people enter beauty contests. 23. You decide to walk somewhere for exercise and 5 people pull over and ask if you need a ride. 24. Your teachers call you by your older siblings names. 25. Your teachers remember when they taught your parents. 26. You can charge at all the local stores. 27. It is normal to see an old man riding through town on a riding lawn mower. 28. You can drive golf carts, 4 wheelers, and go carts in town. 29. When someone gets pulled over the whole town drives by at least twice. 30. Everyone else hears it on their scanners. 31. You have ever partied with a guy who is 25, has no job, but is the "buyer"' for all of the best parties. 32. Almost everyone in your school also has a cousin in your school. 33. Your only newspaper was a weekly. 34. It doesn't take much to amuse you. 35. Your first smoke was straw out in the barn. 36. Your summer swimming was often done in a pond or a gravel pit. 37. You never waited long at stop lights, but regularly waited 15 minutes at the railroad crossings. |

Is it funny or sad how many apply? 1. 2. 3. 5. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 19. 21. 22. 23. 24. 26. 27. 28. 29. 30. 32. 33. 34. 37. We used to ride our bikes 9 miles to the closest swimming pool and 13 to the closest fast-food place (McDonalds) (Message edited by josh_ on December 15, 2005) |

We must be neighbors :-) This is the official announcement that Pumpkin Center does have a traffic light and it's been active for 1 week now. Population is still unknown and way below 100 (mostly family.) We have the fire department, a Texaco, and a bait shop. God's country,,,,,,,Merry Christmas to all! G2 |

Well, I can't can name everyone I graduated with, but most of 'em had the same last name. #15, it wasn't a truck, it was the retired Fire Chief car from the big city of Glen Alpine (I'll bet someone in this thread knows where that is). #16, it was the Tasty Freeze. #21, it was Rose's. #28, back then there weren't no 4 wheelers, dirt bikes were OK. #33, came out Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I live in the big city now, I always look forward to goin' home. |

I grew up in Douglas Ma. When I had my first streetlegal bike (KLR250) there were only TWO cop cars in town due to one being wrapped around a tree over the winter. Douglas has about as much land as Worcester but with a very low (at the time) population density. Anyways, I used to cruise around until I saw both cop cars. Then the rest of the town was MINE |
