A year or three ago a friend of mine moved to the US without saying goodbye. She's an orphan girl with no brothers or sisters. Both adopting parents are in heaven. There are simply no relatives or close friends she left behind. No one. Not a soul.

All I have to go on is her name but she could be using her married name, though that failed years ago. She could even be married again by now, but to who and where, I haven't a clue.

Does anyone know of a channel I can go down to find her?

Stranger

Thanks,

Rocket

Put her name in a post, maybe if she or someone close to her googles her name then they could come up with badweb as a search result and then contact you.

Yeah, a name or names would be helpful. Have you tried http://www.zabasearch.com/ or http://searchenginez.com/reverse_phone.html ?

Sometimes a persistent google investigation will turn up some promising results.

Short of that, try a private investigation service that specializes in finding long lost friends.

If you know where she went to school, you might try finding some www.classmates.com type venues where she might be registered.

Good luck mate.

and bear in mind that there may be a reason the unsub didn't say goodbye. i'm sure rocketman's a good guy and all, but i only know the man as a name on the internet, and that's how successful stalkings often start. i'm not saying rocketman's a stalker, i'm just saying that any and all with the resources to get a make on the jane doe would be well advised to reconsider the ramifications of giving that intel to an internet name. esp. internationally. sometimes there's a good legal reason that 'friends' don't leave a forwarding address. rocket, i apologize, but don't take that personally, we don't know each other. sounds awfully convenient that she allegedly has no 'family' from whom you could track the intel if, in fact, her family felt safe giving you that intel. you don't know me, i don't know you. neither does johnnylunchbox, so if he has access to any ID on her, i'd hope he doesn't share it.
the 'no relatives....she's an orphan' part is an enormous red flag, rocket. that's what stalkers, who the families of the unsubs won't speak to, usually say.
again, my apologies, rocket, if i put you off in any way. i'm just a screenname on the 'net, myself.

Fer chrisakes, she was my first love. We dated for 4 years when I was in my early twenties.

She married a jerk who ruined her life for a while. He's a junkie, always will be. They split years ago. I was still in a marriage.

Last I heard she went on holiday about three years back, to the US. She met a guy there, returned to th UK for a short time then off she went back to the US to live a new life with this guy.

I only found out this year that both her parents had died and that was some years ago. She's a kind woman with a big heart and I'd love to know if she's found happiness or not. Read into that anything you like but I assure anyone I only stalk during full moons.

In my wildest dreams could we meet once again, would it/could it still be the same? She must rember me, I heard her son has the same first name as me.(not mine I sware)

Have you tried www.friendsreunited.com , Sean? It's the 1st place to look, you can also post a message asking for info by name.
I appreciate you don't wan't to spread it about publicly.
I did it to find an old girlfriend who'd moved & changed her name, we eventually got put in touch by someone else. Turned out she'd joined some way out religious sect, & my mailbox became constantly stuffed with religious tracts, til I marked em as spam. Oh well at least I know what happened.

Rocket, I would check out some of the internet outlets mentioned above. I hope things work out for you. She seems to have a good friend in you anyway.

Tramp, what do you know about Ray Finkle?

how do you know she's got a 'good friend' in anyone, esp. a random screenname on the internet whom she seems to have no interest in disclosing here whereabouts to. (no offense, rock)

Done the friendsreunited thing. No luck. The links above came up with nearly 300 name matches. Every State and more. Address and phone numbers galore. No I can't make 300 international calls on a wing and a prayer.

Really what I was hoping for was for some bright spark to say "hey Rocket, if she's British and been in the States for only a year or three then so and so government department will be able to locate her". I'd call the US embassy in London and ask for advice but security is so tight it adds a whole new dimension, and the staff aren't as welcoming these days.

Please, I don't want to explain my interest nor debate my intentions where she's concerned. I simply asked here because I assumed there might be a very simple process one can undertake to find a foreign person living in the US, and someone here would know which bell to ring. If indeed that's the case, please throw it over the ocean and I'll take it from there.

Thanks again.

Great pic Capt. I'd forgot about that passionate evening. Gilles passing wind in his drunken sleep through the cloth of his grey underpants. Passion indeed LOL. Despite the misery of 'mine host' we had a great time. Especially in Linda's car!

Rocket - since so much of this is out in the open already. I was going to tell you to first check the U.S. Embassy in the UK. Explain your story and they may, and I stress "may" decide to help you.

The commercial database services can be more helpful than providing 300 name matches. If you dated her for 4 years then I assume you know her birthdate. That alone will narrow the results even further.

Whether or not she's applied for credit or held a job on the books will all affect the results of a commercial database search.

Do an exhaustive internet search with every name and identifier that you can think of. Use multiple search engines.

The final and most extreme measure would be to hire a private detective.

It would be great if you had any idea what region of the states she was interested in moving to. You could take an ad out in a newspaper there and put the ball in her court.
this gives me an idea. an internet 'missing persons' board, where folks looking to contact someone can post asking the 'missing' person to contact them.
who wouldn't check for their own name, alphabetically, to see if someone from their past is trying to reach them? advertisers would love this idea.
cool name like milkcarton.com

Tramp, with respect dear, why is it in all your posts you seem to want to 'protect' her from me? I find this attitude very typically American - not wanting to generalize.

Believe me, I can trust myself thank you.

I think it's kind of romantic. Who among us hasen't pondered what happened to "ol Suzi"

I hooked up with my 1st wife after 15 years not seeing her. Didn't work out though, it didn't take her long to remember why she left.
