#$^%@! In October made a little extra money and my wife decided to buy a drum set and electric guitar for the kids' Christmas. We spent over $400 and never got our stuff! We cannot get a response from Melanie Wahl, the woman who runs the business and I'm beginning to think that we've been had!

Do not do business with...
DOE A DEER INSTRUMENTS & TOYS
112 Anderson Ferry Road #103
Cincinnati, OH 45238-5952

They are also on the net at www.doe-a-dear.net

I can't believe we are out $400.00. Money is just not growing on trees this year and we where hoping to give the little guys something really cool.

what mode of payment did you use?
did you call the company? if you have a cancelled check or a postal MO receipt, or a credit card statement, you should be able to find restitution.
have you called them? call them, and/or ask a lawyer to assits, if you have any lawyer firends who wouldn't be adverse to having a quick letter typed up and sent to doe-a-deer.
See if court has some insider connections at doe-a-deer.....

Report the theft to their local law enforcement agency. Still plenty of time to get things worked out. You never really know what might have happened, death, tragedy in the family, fire, flood, any number of reasons why you might have trouble contacting the folks.

A phone call and earnest tenacious yet professional approach might yet pay off.

Thanks guys, the payment was made through Paypal and we have asked them to intervene with no results so far.

I will take Blake's suggestion and report them to the Cincinatti PD, they have had enough time to respond and I'm done being nice. They also have similar complaints at the BBB so they are just a bunch of scum bags ripping off parents who try to do something nice for their kids.

What method of payment did you use at PayPal? If you used a credit card with PayPal, then you can still dispute the charge with your credit card company....

Web site is down. If you used a credit card through Paypal and not a direct deduction through your checking account then you can file a claim through your bank.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your concern and assistance. We have been asked to contact the FBI since they have a division that handles things like this and because it happened across state lines. I am contacting Ms. Wahl again today informing her that the feds are interested in her.

Paypal is investigating and we should hear from them this week. If all of this does not work out, I will hire a PI to pay her a visit. No one steals from me and gets away with it, especially if it has something to do with the kids.

Tripp, many thanks for your offer.

Pretty sure the Feds trump any PI you might find. Stick to the high road. : )

It sucks that scum like that is out there. However, once you get your $400.00 back thank that scumbag for not letting you get the kids a guitar and of all things...a drum set!
