The reminder here should be that having a green light and traveling the speed limit doesn't guarantee you a clear path on a street.

Riders are put a risk by inattentive drivers on cell phones daily, but in this instance the rider is at fault. Blaming the stupid driver diverts attention from the fact that the rider did not have adequate spacing and wasn't paying enough attention, IMO.

Ok, inventors..how about someone come up with an invention, that makes it impossible to either get reception or even talk on the phone, unless your motor is turned off..or you are in park or stopped, once you put your foot on the gas, it's all over.. you can hold that damned thing up to your ear all day, you can even talk to yourself, but you're damn sure not getting the grocery list or making deals while you're driving!

You've got a terrific idea, Angel, but I would settle for second best: a cell phone jammer that I can take with me wherever I go.

both of my 2 recent close-calls were similar to that. After the green light car in front goes then brakes. Turns out there is a 2-3" pavement rise so the knob figures he'll bottom out at 25mph.
I found that, in fact, I can lock up the rear wheel!

Churches started installing jammers because too many bozos were leaving their phones on during the service.
I believe the FCC has ruled that any type of radio jamming device is illegal. It would also be a shame if someone had a real emergency and couldn't make a call because the jammer was active.

The rider was at fault for either following too close, inattention, or a combination of both.

Iamike, funny how we went without these things for so long, eh?

Iamike, I think you're right. Anything that jams EM would have to broadcast EM, and that would have a jammer broadcasting on cell phone frequencies at far more than the licensed power of a cell phone.
