lol, I don't see why you think that, he said:
>>>>the recomendation was to put a louder exhaust on it in order to mask the sound.

ANSWER: I don't beleive that. This is where these things go terribly off course, when folks start insinuating absurd actions on the part of the other party. "Proving" someone an idiot is a poor way to commence the resolution of a problem. Let's, first, get past that part.

Sure sounds like he's calling mike a liar, I don't know what you think it means. Remember, if I say that I don't believe that Court is who he says he is, I am calling him a liar, plain and simple.

I will, Lowflier, offer you an apology, because I didn't understand what you meant. There, how's that?

No apology needed for me. I am real hard guy to offend. In fact, I am usually the guy to have to apologize.

I see what you mean. I guess I read the 'answer' to mean that Court didn't believe anyone at Buell would have said that. Being a customer service guy myself, I didn't believe that either, but I didn't think Mike was lying. I just figured he was writing figuratively. As it turns out, by Mike's admission, Court (I) was right. Mike was relating what the dealer said. People do that a lot.

That is, they will say, "Cessna said ____" when in fact they mean, the toothless mechanic at the Cessna Pilot Center in Bumf***, AR said it. It's not that they are lying, it is that the customer is so distressed that anyone remotely associated with the OEM becomes a bona fide representative. This sometimes even causes the customer to avoid contacting the OEM. They figure it must be hopeless since the jacka$$ standing in front of them with the OEM's patch on his shirt is not helping. It's just human nature to want to put a face on what one believes is the source of a problem.

I just hope all this leads to Mike's problem getting solved so he can enjoy his Buell like I enjoy mine.

Problems start when the chest pounders appear and convince an otherwise nice person to do stupid things.

I wish I had the literary genious of this mind sometimes. Been there, done that, and lost heavily always after chest pounding or taking advice from a chest pounder. Marvelous stuff indeed!!!

"I will, Lowflier, offer you an apology, because I didn't understand what you meant. There, how's that?"
Nice introduction and intent, but where is the apology?

Court misunderstood what Mike meant to say. I wouldn't be so harshly confrontational about the matter. Pretty sure Mike can speak for himself.

What's the matter Joe? We're trying to help the man, not start a fight among ourselves. That sure ain't helping Mike is it?

People sure are grouchy today.

hmmm what a tiring thread. I've been bent over by every Harley dealer I've ever encountered. Given bad advice, lied to about what was wrong with my bike, etc etc etc...

I see where Court thought Mike implied he was talking with Buell. I thought so until the crossfire got started. Either way, I don't think Mike was offended, and Cochise is jumping to the defense of someone who didn't seem to need defending. This is all just my opinion. Having said that, I can tell you my one experience with Buell customer service was totally unsatisfactory. I won't bore you with the details.

I really don't have a problem with Mr. Canfield as a whole, I just don't think if he fully understood what Mike was saying, that he should have jumped in there and insinuated that Mike was bolstering his own agenda in the matter. Court didn't understand what Mike was saying, so he should have asked before he jumped to conclusions. Just like most people anywhere, I like to stick up for my friends, just like you are sticking up for your friend, and Mr. Canfield was sticking up for my favorite motorcycle envisionary, Mr. Buell.
I'm pretty sure Court can speak for himself.
I'm not having a twig swinging contest, I was just doing what Court did, I called it how I saw it. I am pretty sure the matter was handled in itself in the whole thread, but I am glad you could come back in here and rehash the whole incident and call me out. I don't think I started a fight, at least I didn't try to. This will be my last post (unless called out again) on THIS matter, but it won't curb my posts on any other matter. Great site you have here, I enjoy coming over to play in your playground as much as possible. Feel free to come play in my playground any time, I think you will like it, it's easy to navigate. : D

I still say you are grouchy. Understandably so, as I hear that following the mass Thanksgiving turkey slaughter folks in Arkansas tend to get deeply depressed followed by a phase of intense irritability due to post turkey consumption guilt.

Good to know that you are assimilating the local culture. It's the American thing to do. ; )

That's the dealer's problem. They have a certain rate according to a code given for any warranty repair. If they exceed it that's on their bill. That's how it is everywhere else.

I have taken a few days off for the holiday. I logged onto Bad Web as I have a terrible habit of doing (thanks Blake) and I see this thread. As you can imagine, discussing customer service issues in a public forum can be risky business, but I wanted to take a few minutes to reply to this thread.

First I would like to say that I like Mike. Not only is he a valued customer, but we consider him to be a part of the HD/Buell of Danbury family. I have had the pleasure of riding with him a few times this year and I look forward to riding with him more next year. Thank you for not directing your frustration towards our dealership and for stressing that you know we have been doing all that we can to help you.

I am sorry to hear about the bad experiences he has had with his local dealership in the past. As we do with all of our customers, we are doing all that we can to give him the best dealership experience possible. I know Mike drives a long way to have his Buell serviced at our dealership and that is greatly appreciated.

Mike originally brought his bike in to us on our "Buell Day" event. He said that he was having some issues with the bike. He also expressed concerns about the background of his motorcycle. Please note: he did not buy his motorcycle from our dealership. As he stated in his post above, he said that he believes it was a "parts bike" that he purchased from a dealership that was dropping the Buells. Anyway, we were all going on a group ride that day and he asked to have someone take a quick look at it just to be safe. I had Dan, our lead service tech, give it a quick once over immediately so Mike could join us on the group ride. Dan made a few adjustments and recommended that Mike make a service appointment so he could look over the bike more thoroughly another day.

When Mike brought his Buell back in, I had three of the best guys in our dealership addressing the concerns with his Buell. Our lead service tech Dan, our Service Mgr. Bob, and Rod Pink. You would be hard pressed to find a better group of people to be troubleshooting a problem with a motorcycle. It is my understanding that Mike will be picking up his motorcycle this afternoon. I have been working with Mike addressing his concerns and I will continue to assist him in any way possible. I will be back to work on Monday morning. Please feel free to call me at your earliest convenience.

Keep in mind that when you buy a new Buell motorcycle you become a part of the Buell family. They are unlike any other company I have known. They stand behind their motorcycles. If a problem arises with your Buell, you can be confident that it will be addressed. We consider you to be a part of the HD/ Buell of Danbury family and we will continue to be here to assist you in any way possible.

Talk to you soon,

Jeff

Lots of passion here. All I can find on the cruiser message boards are dessert receipts - go figure.

Things seem to work out in the end when dealing with not only Buell, but members of this board. The final result should be interesting.

I spoke on the phone with Mike today, if that matters, because he is also a member of ATC, and a friend of mine, and he said all was mostly well. Bike runs better, still a hint of noise, but he can finish the rest. By the way Tramp, I've been trying to call you.

I spoke to Mike at some length the day after he picked up the bike.

Right people are involved. It may be "done", but it'll be tough to tell until he can spend some time with it.

I've offered to come look at it or bring a Buell tech.

I'm thrilled and the support we were able to direct his way. He'll be fine.
