They are still available from Harley-Davidson. We do a few each year. Click Here for details and info. This link is to one on a Police model but they are available for most HD models. |

One of the top authorities, if not the top, is Doug Bingham of Side Strider. Although he's in the Los Angeles area, he can hook you up with mfgs all over the country for whatever bike you would like to turn into a rig. BTW, he attached a Velorex sidecar to a Cyclone that is running around the Glendale/LA area. Nice looking rig too. |

Buying a sidecar is just way to expensive, looking for more of a fun project But as i understand it, it seems to be more complicated than i thought Thanks again R |

Don't know any specifics, but the loads, wheel tracking, the angle of the dangle on a sidecar I believe can get quite complicated. There was a guy here in NY who got killed riding w/ a sidecar on his beemer. He'd built the hack himself. Bad stuff happened to connection points etc. at speed .... Just a data point, but please be careful. Henrik |

I think a really sleek, side car for a buell would look great. REX |

"I think a really sleek, side car for a buell would look great." Like this Equalean? I had one of the later, more developed canopy models on a FXRT for a number of years. Killer looks and a whole lot of fun in the twisties! |

A sidecar would just give me extra ways to really hurt myself. Nothing about a sidecar on the streets really appeals to me, but I'd love to be a monkey on a real racing rig. I'm probably too big to be good at it, but I know for a fact I can hang on like a mofo. |

There's an old timer around here that has a Suzuki Burgermaster scooter with a sidecar. I saw him a couple of times. (so I know it didn't kill him right away) |

Roger, it's not that difficult to build a sidecar and there's nothing complicated about setting one up either. I can give you info on measurements etc. That said, if you're attempting to do it on a low budget my advice would be to find \ buy a cheap chassis preferably with the tie bars and mounting clamps etc all present then the rest is upto you. Build your own body. Buy a body. Fit a bath tub or a coffin. Whatever you desire. You will need a welder and a grinder and the skills to use them efficiently. Especially the welder Let me know how far you wish to proceed. By the way, and I've said it before somewhere on BadWeB, the Ural with the sidecar wheel drive WILL go anywhere and will shame any Jeep, Land Rover, four wheel drive whatever into oblivion. I've seen one drive along and up and down a vertical wall. Once mastered the art of sidecar driving, it's a hell of a lot of fun, even at slow speeds. Riding on two wheels with the chair in the air with its occupier terrified is great fun. Especially if it's your mum. Don't ask, please LOL Rocket |

If you're looking for one for a Sportster, the Motorvation Spyder works real well, I have one on my BMW R80ST. FFI: www.motorvation.com. They also have larger models that fit the big twins. The sidecar's weight has to match the bikes, with the sidecar weighing at least 1/3 as much as the bike weights. If someone wants to hack a Buell, the propreitor of Dauntless Motors (www.dauntlessmotors.com) says he'll make the subframe if the customer will bring the bike to him in Oregon. I may take him up on that offer yet... |

On the Ural site listed above click on downloads, then movies. Look at the Gear Up movie. Shows a 50 cal being shot from the sidecar. Kim |

Ya beat me to it Seth, I also like a " Slow comfortable screw against the wall" but that's another story! remind me to tell you............. Roger you could always build a trike with a dual rear seat. If you do build a sidecar don't think I'm going to run the gap as your monkey! |

If you do build a sidecar don't think I'm going to run the gap as your monkey! Were not going to the gap, were going to Cape Bretton, an dif you have to sit for 1000 miles in a home made side car, so be it, its going to be an adventure, did i mention the extra gas tank mounted in the side car? Get over it, you will be fine, i think R |

Bluzm2 - There is a 1981 Dnieper with a factory sidecar for sale here in Maine. Call Pete at area code (two zero seven) eight eight two-4181 to talk about it. It is a 650cc air cooled opposed twin. Ukrainian made, very rugged (even in comparison to a Ural). It will cruise at 50-55 MPH, it is not a high speed cruiser. Some more details: New tires, needs some engine TLC. Lot's of new parts, 2 tonneau covers, new sidecar upholstery. Maroon with silver pinstriping. $4000 OBO - in Wiscasset, ME Jack |

As a note, the Belt fed gun being fired from the side car is a Russian PKM in 7.62 X 54R. (.30 cal) They set up and fire what appears to be the Russian AGS-30 30MM grenade launcher in the grass. Might be an AGS-17 though.

Does it come with the wind up key, or is that an option? On a serious note though, I'm sure for the narrow streets of some European cities, it's just the ticket.

In my mispent youth I did bumming around Europe thing a couple of times. I saw many Vespas with side hacks. Could have bought one for about $100.00, well used of course. I sure wanted that thing. But in those days a person could live a month on that kind of a budget, Arthure Frommer's $5.00 a day had nothing on a lot of the young folks back then. GOD I FEEL OLD! |
