My family and I are fine after Wilma... 5 days initially seemed like a long time to entertain a 2 year old without power. My wife, daughter, and I actually enjoyed the time though. We danced to the battery powerer radio, read books by flashlight, counted our toes, sang songs, etc. The temp has been great - 75-80ish-.
Got power today, cable today, water is okay to drink. I even saw a FEMA truck here!!?? Many feel they have dropped the ball again but we, my family, were prepared and had no need of assistance. Common sense after being a little underprepared for the last one (Charley).
I appreciate those of you who asked how we are and I am looking forward to the weekend.

Maybe a time your daughter will remember for a long while. Good job on being prepared!Sounds like you enjoyed, considering the circumstances!

Glad to hear you are doing OK.

Reminds me of our days after Hugo in 1989. For 2 weeks, spent ~10 hours a day cleaning up debris in our yard. Came inside at night, lit gas lantern, listened to battery radio, cooked on Coleman stove, read by flashlight. Thank the Lord for gas hot water heater- could take a hot shower every night. Our daughter was ~3 at the time. She was pretty mystified by the whole deal. Whenever we'd ride around she'd notice when people's houses or yards were really trashed and say "Oooo, Mom, they got some BIG damage!"

Glad all is well, I know how you feel with everything. I survived Katrina and Rita so trust me I know what you mean. Any damages??

None for us... we were lucky. Just some downed branches, 4 shingles gone, etc.
Others 10 miles south in Naples area got hit a little harder.(I think Al Lighton was there helping his father-wonder how they fared?)
