So I am gassing up the cyclone in town,(reactor yellow). While I am sitting there a guy parks his car and walks towards the mini-mart store. As he is passing by me , he says "Hey man, Nice Ducati"
..I try to tell him "this is American buddy , a Buell, ever hear of it?" He said no and I just laughed to myself. Anyone have a similar story?

I had a guy ask me if my S-1 was a BMW.
I can only assume it was the guy was either stupid or illiterate and couldn't get past the "B" rolleyes

As close as I have come is to have folks ask "What's a Buell? Who makes those?". After telling them, the response is usually "Really? Harley-Davidson??"

I had a guy walk up to my Sportster & say "Nice Indian". I just looked at him and said "UH HUH". I figured it wasn't worth much conversation since Indian had been out of business for so many years.

Once, after pulling into one dealer behind a Toyota Tundra and pulling up to the front (bike only parking) The driver of the pickup walked past with his buddy and said loudly..
"They're aught'a be a law against parkin' Jap Crap in fron' a Harley Dealer!"

While getting ready to head out of a parking lot in the Shenandoah Valley..
"Hey, I seen them Bulls Bikes! He was on that biker building show.. Man, I like his crotch rockets even better then his choppers!"

I was outside a bar with New12r & Silverbullet getting on our bikes a while back.
This guy comes out admiring the bikes and asks New12r "Those are really small bikes what are they 500cc's?"
New12r didn't particularly fancy the idea of his bike being mistaken in that way and tells the guy.
"No mine's 1200cc's and the one She's on is right at 1000cc's"- with a big eat $hit grin

It felt like a mastercard commercial cuz the look on this guys face was priceless

We were at a bike rally in North Georgia this past summer, primarily hogs and this woman getting off the back of her old man's fat bastard bike-o-lounger says "Buell, what's that?" and her old man says, "It's like an off brand Harley". I told him it's more like a fast Harley, that handles.

Mtnchld, That's great. I had the same thing happen several times at the Pendleton gas station over the last few weeks. "Is that a 500? It's so small?"

I was in a Ralley ride a couple years back for a local HD shop to raise funds for the Traveling Vetnam wall, w/ my father in law on his Electra Glide... Out of 200+ bikes i was the only Buell and the only bike resembling anything but a cruiser.... I got many looks, but the best part was after the ride a couple guys asked if i wanted to join them on a quick ride.. (was my father in laws friends bout 20 people) I said sure no sweat.. They blast out as fast as their engines can go... i just giggle and pop a slight wheelie and blast by them on a nice long corner on I-75 and pull away on the exit ramp. when we got to the stop light one of my father in laws friends said "that Ducati can corner.." THIS WAS A 30 YEAR HARLEY RIDER!! I was dumbfounded.. each one wanted to ride it that day.. lol got a free tank of gas after each one had a turn on the ol X1WL... lol
