Where was everyone? Saw one black lightning and a blast. Never saw their owners though.

I saw Tedd Doering and his pals there with that trike from the 1800's.

Was a good night for riding too! Air was real crisp & cool but not cold.

Surprised that i didn't see anyone from here.

P.S.
Mike, I saw a yellow SV650 there. Nice looking bike except for the fairing/headlight area.

I'm not sentimental towards twins though, and I'm just as likely to try an inline 4 next. But,
that SV was easy on the eyes!

try riding one! the handling won't be quite as sharp as your used to but the overall package is great, and if you want more power they have a litre class version. i do agree the fairing is not very attractive. for the money they really are tough to beat.
inline's. they lost it for me years ago, they produce the most speed but in truth i find myself bored 90% of the time and overwhelmed the other 10% when i try to really enjoy it. of course if your on the open highway and aren't worried about your license they are a total rush. the problem is the rest of the time. imho

My wife and I are not the earliest risers, but we were thinking of being there about 9 - 930. The weather should be nice, and fall is definitelty in the air. I love this cooler weather. The bikes seem to like it too.

If I have to carry a passenger I'll be on the S3T, if not, I'll be on the XB12R.

If you are facing the diner from the road, we usually go all the way to the left at the very end of the parking lot.

Nice pic there FROG MAN lol WTF. Saw that this morning and thought noooo cant be Trampsquatch.Damn Good article. Im up for the Dairy and any other rides tomorrow. Mike Tramp Saint so on? Chime in here at any time

Short-cropped Jay Westerveld has an easy lope and a Woody Harrelson square-jawed smile as he walks the streets of Sugar Loaf.
He sprouted here. Bassinet to crib, this has always been his stomping grounds – and I mean stomping. Check out his deep-throated Harley Streetfighter and the Hell's Angels admiration sticker. He's not a biker Angel – just an admirer.
He's got a college degree, is his own motorcycle mechanic and comes from a big local hunting and trapping family. In fact, he's a free spirit right out of the best selling "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance."
But he's now a Wayne's World explorer, a new title I'm handing out to our neighbors who walk on the wild side. "There's a generous helping of romance in that, but I'll take it," says Westerveld.
Westerveld is out to protect a piece of our paradise in a golden triangle of wetlands around underappreciated Glenmere Lake, whose wildlife basin takes in Warwick, Chester and Goshen. On the map, Glenmere is a disfigured pork chop. The county owns most of it, but the lake's surface, clear enough for fresh water jellyfish, supplies the Village of Florida with water.
What's so special about Glenmere's 350-acres of real estate? Well, aside from the lake's storied Tuscan-style villa that used to sleep Babe Ruth, this hunk of marshes, old logging trails, valleys and rolling vistas, hosts maybe the largest concentration in New York state of the endangered northern cricket frog.
This thumbnail-size amphibian (ðto 1å inches) haunts Glenmere's edges – and is now making its fall migration to winter digs (Westerveld may be the first to note that they jump away from the lake to find hibernation spots upland).
And I mean jump. Cricket frogs can jump 5 to 6 feet. This hard-to-see web-footed chorister (it's voice sounds like pebbles rubbed together), and the endangered bog turtle, are two of Westerveld's priority critters.
To communicate with cricket frogs, he twirls a couple of cheap ratchet wrenches. To the frogs, they are the gratings sounds of long-lost friends. "The cheaper these wrenches are, the better the sound," says Westerveld.
Better yet, he slips a canoe into the lake on a warm night, slowly drifting among the lily pads, and looks for pairs of tiny, glowing cricket frog eyes. At the end of the lake is a marsh to die for – "it's got floating islands of rare meat-eating sundew and pitcher plants like you've never seen," he says.
Eager to get the word out about saving local wildlife, Westerveld gets up at town meetings, shoots off maps and scientific references to local, state and county officials, urging them to protect the cricket frogs and bog turtles. It's a crusade. "We've got one of the largest concentrations of cricket frogs right in the creek that flows through the Chester Industrial Park," he says, like an Amazon explorer talking about the next great find.
"They know they've got bog turtles right around here and in Sugar Loaf, but that doesn't stop them from developing." Some local officials deny seeing any bog turtles. Some developer-paid investigators come up empty.
Westerveld smiles; he's found bog turtles on his own.
Backing up Westerveld is a recent biodiversity report by the Metropolitan Conservation Alliance. Basically, the report says think bog turtles, cricket frogs and don't forget others like dragonflies – so many kinds in Orange County that it's one of the most dragonfly-populated U.S. counties, and hordes of them live in Westerveld's backyard.
Yeah, says Westerveld, reports like this are great.
But he's got to keep his own nature ball – and his motorcycle – rolling. His 1996 bike's got 214,000 miles. He figures it's got miles to go. So does he. Hey, explorers may run out of gas, but never passion.

Thanks, Rich-
Wish I knew how to post the picture...nothing like a Bueller standing by a marsh with a 3/8 ratchet calling frogs....
How's the Li'l Hammer, man? You got a good Orthopede?
Call if you need anything. 469-8832.
I'm up for the dairy, tomorrow.

Weird he called it a "Harley Streefighter"...he seemed to have trouble grasping that a Buell is a brand. I explained it's a Harley engine, etc., but....
He also cross-examined me about the regalia on my sled -my answer was that you gotta admire any group that can survive half a century on the fringe. journalists.

the attack tabby held the hammer at bay just long enough for the trampsquatch to find a dose of the life giving nectar (coffee) that fuelled our almost predawn ride.
interesting watching a real hammer rattle around at 100mph 40ft in front of you. side note: pretty cool how a stock sportster motor with a quarter million miles on it still runs up over the "tonne" on a steep grade. impressive.

Ya, Busy today, just a little "local"riding here(just staying out of the saltmines[subway])
as you can see, I am online today. I had to get both mine and my girlfriends computrer functioning properly again!
I am probably going to be free a day or two this week, my gal is off to Germany on business for a few days, and I have a couple days off work this week(probably) so once I have a better idea of my schedule, I should hopefully be able to synchronize something wit ya!
I am definitely in need of some REAL riding, this putting around the City avoiding psycho cabbies and desperate housewives in SUVs crap is getting a bit old!
