I've been watching the Buell market for sometime now. And I think the value has hit rock bottom.

a 2002 m2 6000 miles with buell seat and VH exhaust just sold for 3100.00 on ebay! I almost bid on the bike just for the heck of it. Good thing I didn't cause I'd have won it. On the badweb posted is a 2002 s3t with race kit and hard bags $5000

Just three months backs the same bikes were selling for 1-2000 more. Like the title says good for some bad for others. I sure would have purchased that m2 for 3100.00 three months back when I paid double that for my x1. Granted my x1 has over 3g in go fast and look good goodies. But 3100 for a damn near new bike. Heck cheap jap bikes cost more than that.

As the 'off-season' approaches things may dip further. I have been doing lots of watching too. I believe that the prices for many tubers are already on the rise (S2 S3 SIW) while the M2 and X1 haven't. Wanna be really disheartened? I just traded my '03 9S on a Uly! Bought the first 9s my dealer ever got, and paid the full $10K. $3700 miles and a race kit later, the best trade in I got was $4700.

I value a bike in the pleasure I have riding it, not on trade in or re-sale.

That aside, I second that you need to remember that we are entering off-season...

I sold an 04' XB12S with 10,000 miles, great condition, and no mods except pucks for $6,700. I was o.k. with that.

Yeah, thats like 2/3 of what you initially paid...mine was less that 1/2 !!! Guess the 12's are holding the better value.

S3 value will sorta remain even untill Buell gets wise and puts some bags and a faring on the Ss.

I bought a 98 s1w with 5400 miles back in 2002 for 4500. And even 3 years later the s1w are still selling for 4-5g. I guess its just not wise for the weekend rider to buy a brand new buell.

Hi,

I have a personal rule about bike pricing, "Bikes are worth about 20% less after Laconia". Every year, bike prices are the highest before Laconia and right after they start the slide and bottom out in early November then start to rise again.

Just so happens that Fathers day lands on Laconia bike week every year and after early November people start Christmas shopping... go figure.

If you think bikes are bad, last Fall I bought a 2 year old Trailblazer for 1/2 of its original price. That was a $19,000 hit someone took in just 2 years.

Just traded my 03 XB9S with 14000 miles for a Uly. I got $4100 for the trade. The only options I had was the race kit. I had just put on new tires, Brake pads and a Battery. I paid $8800 for it new 25 months ago.

P.S the best price I got for the trade was from Daves, I just could not find the time to get my bike to him and get the Uly from him. Thank's Daves.
