I love it! Probably not as good as a Uly, but what a beaut.  The very first ride I ever had on a motorcycle was on the back of a Triumph scrambler when I was 6 years old. | ||

That was a nice bike, the Uly of its day almost but maybe with a little more serious intent on the off road side. It proved itself in its day, the Uly has not done that yet. I don't think the disc brake is stock, that was probably added later. The alloy rims were not on the originals either if I remember right. Those Pirelli tires (K70's?) were perfect for getting around on the street to the places you went for real fun. Like the logging roads and fire trails back in the mountains behind Pescadero on the San Francisco Peninsula. And if you had any brains or disliked long pushes and walks, the tubes were the heavy duty ones and treated with dragon snot or whatever that sealant was called. The bash plate and case guards are aftermarket and useful. That has mufflers on it too, sort of a shame. The earlier Bonnevilles came with a tubular baffle that was easily replaced with a Snuff-or-Not. The Snuff-or-Not would keep you out of trouble with the law if you did not have too heavy a hand around town. Jack | ||

Those rims might allow for tubeless tires. I went to the main site to see but they said nothing. I guess if they say nothing, we can assume that they are just normal tube-type rims? | ||

there's tubes under those tires, Nate, believe me there's an 05 Bonnie sharing space in the Entropy Lab -- great scoot, and one of the few made with what I might refer to as "standard" ergos -- the owner/rider flat out LOVES it, and I admit it would be a rational replacement for my MaDeuece (if replacing the MaDeuece could be classified as rational) (Message edited by bomber on September 22, 2005) | ||

2 manufacturers that come to mind with spoked tubeless wheels: BMW (RxxxGS) and MotoGuzzi (Bassa). The spokes are routed to the outside of the wheel (instead of the center) and tie into a special lip. Tim | ||

I had not realized that the marque had been revived to that extent, with the vertical twin and all. When I look again, there are a lot of other details that are not quite right for the ones I lusted over at Monroe Motors in the mid 60-s. I guess I live a pretty sheltered life, motorcycle wise... Looking at that Triumph sure gets me thinkin'.I was about 10yrs. old (+-)when I heard a Triumph 650 Bonneville with trumpet tip exhaust,and something happened to my brain,my soul.I have loved motorcycles ever since.  | ||
