Air raid sirens by a Nuclear plant could be a point for alarm, but hey it's New York. Hope all made it home safe, I know not dry. Good talking and meeting - will need a repeat soon. |

so how many groups get people to show up at night in the rain! gives new meaning to the name "bad weather bikers". very cool to put faces to names. 214k on a buell, tramp that bikes needs to see it's maker on the 24th. after all how many of us actually get to meet our maker without some serious sacrifice! |

"sacrifice"? now I'm 'ascaired'.... actually, the liberty cycle thing could be slightly problematic, as that region is....wel..."Charlie's point" to me. 'specially with the 'decorations' my S2 is emblazoned with. don't stand too close to me if i do go. |

incidentally, the scene was definitely set by the old kraut in the 911 carrera who told me "ya, zeee event vas cancelled to to za rain, zese little poooooooseees vere afraid offf gettin vet". at about that point, I knew I was gonna meet some hardcore Buellers. then or just before i escorted that young asian lady to the restroom in the deluged woods.... I must just exude "trustworthiness" (Message edited by tramp on September 15, 2005) |

Tramp I agree with mike.... The maker needs to see how well his machine can take a beating... As for standing too close...I shoot back |

ah c'mon, you've ridden that bike around the world eight times and your worried about new jersey, on second thought... seriously, i'm obviously naive to the "club" culture but is it really that bad? |

seriously, though- youze fellow hudson valley buellers- I'll be at the harriman registration point sunday am... follow the eye-catching red and white signs i made...stop by and bs with your local angels. the run and the endpoint party (on the beautiful long island sound in new roc city) is a blast. this year, though, for the first time since the first one 5 years ago, i gotta miss the end party, as i'm seeing bo diddley play at stewart airport. can you say 'backstage'? |

Tramp I gotta work all weekend. The wife was going to ride last night too. The rain freaked her out a bit though. She's logged quite a few miles in the rain, but she's never too comfortable with it. I should have rode my Concours. I don't think I can get wet on that thing. I really have no excuse; it's only about ten minutes away. |

the ride home on the xr was a rip. it's fun to see how long you can keep the throttle to its stop. with relatively little hp you can sometimes keep it pinned for quite a while. next time you ride try to keep track of how long you actually have the throttle opened all the way, kinda makes you realize maybe more power is not the answer to more fun. even with the buell not being a "fast" bike in a straight line it still has enough power that it is often difficult to get more than a few seconds of wfo. it seems an open highway is about the only place a modern bike see's wfo for any length of time(of course this assumes no traffic or "unfriendly" leo's). hmm, aprillia rs50 ??? |

hey- most accidents happen within 10 minutes of home. esp. in the rain at night. in rut. thankfully, the full fairing, extensive bodywork and aggressive tread of my S2t kept me dry and tractive.... |

was i the only one who had to run the red light leaving bear mtn. it just won't respond to a bike, your stuck until a car comes up behind you. |

what do i care from red lights? i was cruising w/the heat, baby! (just kidding. we observed all posted and otherwise implied V&T ordinances...and that not-being-heavy-enough-to-trip-the-sensor stuff really annoys me) |

must be the "ha" stickers and patches. makes everybody feel all homey and americana-ish. who ever could have guessed a bike "club" would become such a part of americana. travel abroad and you realize that the "ha" are right up there with cowboy's in many a view of the US, and not in a bad way either. |

Just a note on those red light traffic sensors. You can notify the municipality that they are not detecting motorcycles and they should send someone out to adjust the sensor. They are adjustable magnetometers that have varying sensitivity to differing amounts of metallic mass. |
