Right now I own a Blast.
My husband just bought an '03 XB9S; (but I want to be able to ride it).
I'm only 5'2".
We are looking at buying a low seat (either from Buell or Corbin).
Anyone know if one is lower than the other? They look about the same in pictures.
Anyone know if there is anything else I can do to the XB9S to lower it?

Here's a pic of my bike,
An 03' "low" model from the factory:

XB9SLow

It's almost two inches lower than a normal one
(1" lower suspension, and almost 1" lower seat)

If you want to lower the bike yourself, I recommend giving DaveS a call at Appleton HD. He has lowered several bikes and can get the parts for you.(site sponsor and loved by everyone here! great guy to deal with)

(p.s. I'm pretty sure the factory low seat is the lowest you can get)

Nicoleqv, I just happen to have some seat height numbers handy. There seem to be two Blast models.
Blast Standard, 27.50" (seat narrow, tranny wide).
Blast LowProfile, 25.50" (seat narrow, tranny wide).
Get your tape measure out!

XB9S StockSeat, 30.10".
Buell LowSeat, 29.10" (approx 1" lower than stock).
Corbin Streetfighter, 29.50" (corbin will customize/narrow on request).

XB9SL Stock('03-04), 28.60" (factory lowseat/smallfork/rearspring).
To transform a XB9S into a 'low' version will require modifications to the forks, rear shock, and maybe the kickstand. Go to the 'Sponsor News, Information, Cool Stuff' section and/or
call/email Dave Stueve at (920)757-1651 Appleton HD/Buell. I believe he'd be happy to talk you through the safe alternatives.

Oh also, I've read positive things about Al Lighton and his team at AmericanSportBike regarding ordering perfect Corbin seats. You'll find contact info for them in the Sponsor section.

It seems you may be on your toes going for the XB which is a non-issue many riders learn to live with - practice and plan your line ahead. Also consider getting hub sliders and frame pucks.

Thanks for all the info! Since it is my husband's bike, I'll probably have to wait (until he gives it to me when he gets a XB12) for all those mods.

I have the Blast Low seat right now -- just because it is my first bike (1 year ago) and I wanted to be very comfortable on it. I can still touch flat footed on a standard seat.
I'm thinking of buying a standard seat to put on the Blast, just so I can get used to the taller height before moving up.

The worst part is that I sat on a XB12SCG this weekend, and it is about the perfect height.
They don't make the XB9S Low anymore since they went to the City X. Doesn't make sense to me to make the bigger bike with low CG, but not the smaller one.

Nicoleqv, I'll go ahead and state the obvious. That XB12SCG seat is the 'low' seat that fits the XB9S which brings height down from 30.1" to 29.1". Low seat has less padding so there 'might' be comfort issues. Corbin's are usually alittle higher/wider depending on how you tell them to customize it, most people love them.
Fork/shock conversion gets you down to 28.6" - identical to the XB12SCG which 'is about the perfect height'. Regular Blast is 27.5" which you can flatfoot.
Hopefully DaveS will chime in to say how much it costs to do the conversion - might ask if you/husband are interested in a trip to Wisconsin and do some trading!

I would try the low seat first. That will drop you about an inch.
I sell them for 87.30 with the Badweb discount.
The susp. gets more expensive

I have a City X , I found the stock seat too tall. I made a swap for a seat off a XB12cg , it works fine. I have a 30" inseam and prefer to have at least one foot flat on the ground.

As what Dana P. said I am 3/4 footed with my boots on and it works fine with the low seat. I am also fine on the stock seat I am 5'4" when I stop I make sure one foot is flat on the ground.
