After seventeen years in the Air Force, I finally hung up my boots. I know a lot of you are thinking that I had seventeen years in, I should do the final three for my retirement, it's because of health issues with my wife that I'm leaving at this time. I entered the Air Force on Dec 6th, 1988 and left active duty Oct 5, 1998 and joined the Michigan Air National Guard, I finished with the Air Guard a couple of weeks ago. I was a firefighter and have been stationed at the following bases; Lackland AFB, TX., Chanute AFB, IL., Soesterberg AB, Netherlands, Castle AFB, CA., Altus AFB, OK., Mountain Home AFB, ID., Shakisa(spelling) AB, Bahrain, Kellogg Airport, MI, Goodfellow AFB, TX., Mildenhall AB, England, and Alpena AFB, MI. I had a great time while serving and have made many great freinds all over the world, I hope my new Buell family will take the place of the military and continue to meet great people and become good freinds. |

I did 10 yrs in the Navy Submarine service and gave it up. No regrets but a retirement check every month would sure be nice now though! 13 years since I got out...Time sure flys.... BTW: I graduated H.S. from Altus, OK when my dad was stationed there. Small world. Enjoy the civvies! BC Steve |

Congrats, I officially retire from the Active Army with 20 years of service at the end of this month. The retirement check will be very nice especially considering I am not even 40 yet. |

Tim (Nevar) said: I spent four years in the Air Force from 1971 to 1975. Lackland AFB, Presidio of Montery, Goodfellow AFB Sounds like you were a linguist (203). I was an analyst (202) from '73-'77, Lackland/Goodfellow/Kelly/Kadena. Smartest thing I ever did was join the Air Force. Second smartest thing was get out. That's not a slam on anyone who chooses to stay with it; I admire anyone who does it. I just came to the conclusion that it wasn't for me and moved on. Trolldaddi, thanks for your service, and here's hoping your future holds up as well for both you and your wife. (Message edited by buell_less on September 09, 2005) |

" uhhhh.. chase- did I imply, somehow, that drugs were part of the freedom equation? how about you go ahead and grow yourself a nice beard and pony tail, and go spend the winter in Mexico, chasing some nice tail. can't do it, can you? That's 'cause you're government property, lad. You're always gonna have to report, until the day your hitch ends. that ain't freedom. |

and, "odie", i never said it wasn't. my love for my own personal freedom makes me no less proud of my CIB, just that sleeping in sh*t and trading fire with strangers grew real old real fast. so did watching buddies' heads splattered all over ourselves and our gear. otheriwse, though, it was real swell. just like John Wayne movies. |
