you could always ride north up the palisades, stop by bear mtn (make sure you go to the top, perkins drive) then head up to the buffer zone west of stewart airport for some dirt. nice all day ride. stewart is about an hour and a half from new york.

tx for the tip mike

went up there today - found lots of nice trails - mostly on private property, but nobody seemed to mind ... at least nobody shot at me.

I love the uly on the road, handles great, and on the rough stuff it handles very well as long as its flat. maybe its just gonna take me a bit to get used to but I was throwing my back end all over the place in turns, and on steep stuff. the front end stuck like glue everywhere.

didnt push it too hard but had a few close calls, enough that next time I go offroad with this beast I'll be wearing proper gear.

where did you go into the buffer? there's an unofficial motorcycle entrance and riding area on the west side (guess i should have mentioned that earlier). the total area is about 9,000 acres.
did you stop off at bear mtn(perkins drive), great views of ny, ct, nj, and nyc as well on a day like yesterday.

not exactly sure where I was, but don't think it was perkins drive.

I found about 10 or so trails around the surrounding areas of bear mountain. all were marked private, few were marked private, military and didn't go too far in.

lots of steep inclines, one was a single path that I didnt think i should go up but I did, luckily found a clearing where I could ride up the hill side and turn around to head back.

found 2 paths that I have noted and will revisit with tent and sleeping bag. if anyone's interested in going send me a pm I'd love the company.

caught good air for the first time on my uly in some construction site, had mounds of gravel and dirt all over the place, I couldn't resist.
