Welcome and enjoy. If there are questions you need to ask about your bike, you've come to the right message board.

Gary-
I think that the only way to get 5.4 gallons in our bikes is to stand them up when filling. Otherwise they only hold 5. The manual is right when it says that there is 0.4 gal. left when the light comes on. I have learned to watch my odometer because too often when the light comes on it's too late.

Tramp -
That would be a no and a no. I coach either at Rockland Comm. College or at Lagrange for SmartRider. Hope your friend enjoys it and does well. If he's a newbie to riding- it's the perfect choice and if he has some experience, I'm sure he'll learn something - most always do.

Welcome.

I grew up in MA.

Anyway, yeah, use your odometer. At 150, I start looking for gas, adn go ahead and fill it. I have an X1...

I got into trouble trusting to my gas light once...never again...

Would you Massachusets guys believe that I just came back from a two day visit to MA and did not meet a single bad driver in the process? Or have a single moment of anger or terror on the road?

It was because I flew to Boston, then Nantucket, and drove a boat back to Maine by way of Woods Hole, Buzzard Bay, the Cape Cod Canal, Duxbury Bay, then an overnight liberty call in Portland, ME and on to Mount Desert Island. And can you believe? I got paid for doing that!

Jack
