I'll bet the Harley and Buell have just as much foriegn content as the Suzukis. |

japanese motorcycles are faster , by and large.....by and very large. when you're dealing with increments of fractions of a second from 0-60, and/or top speeds in excess of over 160mph, the gradient is gone, for me. I'm happy as he*l with my buell, and it's plenty fast. ...plus, I'm not a guy who really requires technology to compensate for my talent. I can dust plenty of gixxers in the twisties on my paleobolt. |

I'll take that bet. Are we talking production bikes too or just the race bikes? |

Either way HD/Buell is an American company so even if they have foreign parts the money from sales stays in America and is taxed and doesn't go against the trade deficit. That's why the Army should be running a HD/Buell. |

The Army also uses Beretta pistols as standard issue and will soon have Heckler & Koch main battle rifles. They sponsor Suzuki because of the demographics of Suzuki sportbike enthusiasts. |

Warning. Complete thread drift; anyone into airsoft pistols? I've been wanting to get back into shooting (used to be a decent shot with a 9 mm Neuhausen), and airsoft looks to be a fun and inexpensive way to get started. There are some very nice 1911 airsoft models out there. Henrik |

Henrik - check out the Walther/S&W P22. It is a nice little pistol that you can get for about 275 and can shoot all day long for peanuts. It's a polymer framed, .22LR, semi-auto pistol. It is a lot of fun, and there are several versions available. |

that is GREAT advice, johnnylunchbox, 'cept henrik lives in NYC, so it'd involve permits and fingerprinting and anal probes and.... |

Oh...my bad. Those anal probes at the hands of ham-fisted city hall bureaucrats can be a bit unpleasant and they don't always guarantee a pistol permit. On the other hand, I can't imagine a target permit would be too difficult to obtain, but I don't know squat about their system and their idiosynchracies. In the last two weeks I bought a Marlin Camp Carbine in .45ACP and a Marlin 922M in .22WMR. We still love our guns here in the NYC suburbs. I think you even need permits for long guns in NYC don't you? |

Henrik, The airsoft guns are pretty cool. Both of my boys have full size copies of HK 91's that are full auto. I enjoy palying with em a lot. Drives the wife crazy though, little orange plastic bb's all through the house. |

Interesting. Might want to get one of those airsoft 1911's to train the boys. I have a decent little air pistol as well that fires .177 pellets. Great for the basement / garage. |

"I think you even need permits for long guns in NYC don't you?" I'm pretty sure you don't, but I know the regs are murky whenever a city-dweller wants to carry his rifle/scattergun out to the car/train/etc. to come up our way to hunt. Frankly, in NYC, at least, a small chainsaw is a much better bet in terms of personal protection, and it requires no permit. where in the 'burbs are you, lunchmeat? |

Hey TRAMP....I REALLY liked that comment................"plus, I'm not a guy who really requires technology to compensate for my talent. "......I AGREE!...the man who has the most fun with the least amount of Technology is by far grinning bigger and far more "advanced" than the guy who needs alot of motor to make up for his deficiencies!!!...Too cool and true!

Thanks for the notes guys. Permits, AFAIK are tough in NYC. Odd laws too; it's next to impossible to get a carry permit, however, you're allowed to carry concealed if you're carrying your range guns to the range in a locked case Besides, if it requires an anal probe I'll just stick with airsoft Any airsoft brands? I'd be wanting gas powered with semi-auto "like" function. Metal body preferable. Henrik |

"Viva Sam." "Sam'l got it right early on!" Let credit be given where due. Colt just made them, the true genius was John Moses Browning. He also designed my "other favorite" automatic pistol, the Browning High Power (aka FN Model 1935). And the Browning .30 and .50 caliber machine guns, and the Browning Automatic Rifle, and a large number of popular sporting rifles. Browning was arguably the best gun designer and maker in firearms history. Jack |
