Yep I'm plannin to be there. No motorhome tho too much $$$$ to drive it. Its a 50 mile drive and I'll trailer the XB. I met the manager of the AutoBahn Wed at a meeting, he is a 3 time Indy 500 participant. Gotta get with DaveS or Leon Friday am.

I hear you on the cost of driving the RV, I figure it is offset somewhat by not need a hotel room, yet still sleeping on a real bed. Besides which mine is my tow vehicle as well. I sold my suburban because it and the rv got the same gas mileage (suburban had a 454, Rv dodge 360 built by jasper's for towing). Even when my brother brings the race bike in his truck I still need to trailer the 4 wheeler etc. I also have gotten spoiled, tent camping is hard on my (prematurely) old body. It's the price we/I pay to play the game.

2 points not in my favor at this time. Thought the track date was later in the month and the price of gas currently has me seriously re-evaluating the cost of transportation costs to and from the track.

maybe there is someone you could hook up with and share fuel costs? An awful lot of trailers come to the races only half loaded.

WOW what a day! Just got unloaded from the track and DaveS should be about 3 hours from home. He ROCKS!!The tires on his XB12R were wornout after one day, Also met up with Diablo Brian and Michael who were preping and practicing for the races Friday and Saturday. Michael the pilot, Brian the wrenchman, and Brians son the man doin it all. Great facility for just being open months. LOTS of Buells there, and the race teams there too. Had lunch with Henry Duga, he was there helpin the Buell racers. Also LOTS of racing this weekend there. CCS and F-USA so if you are in the Chicagoland area this is your best chance to get up close to some great racing to hold you over til next year. Maybe next year we can have an all Buell trackday, how about it Badweb riders?

Glad you had a good day and enjoyed the track Mike & Dave(now the veteran Autobahner)!
Just emphasizing the open invitation from "Coolice" come one and all. This is a really great event for Buell riders to see.
$15 gets you admission to some serious V-Twin battles. Easy to get to, lots of space, great viewing angles, open paddock.
If you can get there anytime the next three days,
do it!

What a day yesterday was!
I got up at 1:45 am,left for Joliet at 2:20 am, got there about 7:30
I think this was the biggest track day I've ever been to.
As soon as I pulled in, as I was headed to the pit area I noticed a kid waving me down? It was DiabloBrian's son Kyle. He saw the Appleton logo on the trailer. Nice kid, helped with stands, has the leathers "tug" down pat,was putting tire warmers on and other things that need done. He is like 12 years old.
We had a great pit area, right by the action.
We got Coolice to move in with us too. We were one pit away from Ritchie Morris/Daytona Buell pit and right on the pit road.
So I met Brian,Kyle,Michael, his wife Julie and daughter Haley. I got to see a bunch of people I haven't seen for a while, that's always cool.

The track is very good except for some ripples entering turn 5, there were a few crashes there.
Very technical course, just the way I like them.
It only has one short straight on the back side which of course helps when you are on a Buell.
It took me a couple sessions to learn the course and know which way it turns next. Lots of good riders in the intermediate group. Leon asked me if I'd run that group instead of the advanced since the advanced group was so full.
I only had one "pucker factor" moment in turn 1 trying to hold off a GSXR. Got on the gas a little early and a little too ham fisted and stepped out the rear a little. I thought "oh Shi+" but the Buell pulled me thru it. He did get the pass on me as I worked to keep on the bike and the bike off the ground. I didn't really give chase, not being sure if the tire was going away or it was just rider error. It was rider error.
I had 2 off track excursions in the last two sessions and could tell I was getting tired. I was actually glad when the last session was done!

Coolice helped me get loaded up, thanks Mike!
I had to stop in Racine on my way back to meet up with Impulse and give him some tires.
Got back to my apartment about 10:30 last night.
Loooong day.

Like I always say, for those of you that have never done a track day, you should really think about it. You owe it to yourself and your Buell to do one.

Wow, what a weekend. Our team got wood in all three races. We got second in GT Lights (AM), 4th in CCS thunderbike (AM), and in a heroic effort, despite getting sick in his helmet during the race. Michael managed a 4th (would have been 3rd if the finish was 10 feet further down) in Light Weight Superbike (AM). All in all a good weekend.

Michael and his family left saturday afternoon, he felt he was too sick to attempt the Formula USA thunderbike race. His lap times from the races he ran would have qualified him around 7th. Next year we'll have a run at formula USA if things go as we have it planned.

The racing on Sunday was great! Billanski, and Estok fought it out. Billanski won the day, but Estok took home the championship.

Thanks to DaveS, Coolice, Slaughter (?), Walt Sipp, and all the others I cannot for the life of me remember right now. No fault of yours, I am to blame. It was a great weekend, I really enjoyed putting faces to the names. I look forward to seeing more of my fellow Badwebbers at Daytona. Look for the guy on the black and orange (vr1000 style) 4 wheeler #127.

Hope to make Daytona next year for the opener... won't likely be there for the next race (bummer)

Really cool meeting the mob out there. Way more attending than last year's race in Vegas (my only F-USA race last year)

C-yall again soon!

Coolice, I wasn't really that much help, but thanks anyway. All I did was hold a flashlight. You guys had the repairs well in hand, and I pretty much kept my hands out of the way.
It was nice to just hang out and socialize a little. I usually end up turning the wrenches so it was a nice change.
Anyone else planning to go to Gingerman? I know that there was talk of Daytona (biketoberfest/fall cycle fest, Race of Champions/F-USA final round.....)whatever you want to call it. Anyone else going to be there for either of those races?

I'll be at Daytona for sure. I'm thinking about going to Gingerman too, it just depends on if I get my 600 together in time.
