I'm planning on making a new gas tank for my x1 over the winter.. awhile back I was surfin through the pics and saw a buell tank that was fabricated with all the angles riveted together and painted really cool..i've been looking and looking through the pics and i cant find it now..if that's ur tank or u know where the pics are i'd appreciate the link or some pics...i'm just wanting to look at it for a few ideas i'm kickin around...i'm not trying to copy it,just get some hints..lol..thanx |

check with 1313, the tank cover that you are describing was done by a friend of his in europe the bike was cool too. |

that's awesome...thanx alot...just curious..is it a cover or an actual tank? i'm planning on making mine to the dimensions of the inner bladder..and it will be a tank not a cover...thanx again for the pics...whenever i get it done i'll post some pics.. |

wow..after looking closer i realize its a cover..and it's a dedication to pearl harbor...that's even cooler than i remembered..thanx again...hey 1313...u got any more pics???? |

Prez- These are the only other pictures I have of the tank cover: But I have quite a few of the overall bike. The pictures are somewhat large (~640 KB or so), so the best thing would be for me to E-mail them to you. Shoot me a PM and I will send you some. Frank first tried getting a tank cover cast out of Aluminum, but it came out too warped (if I remember right). When he was at Homecoming this year I asked him a little more about the tank cover and he said that it is actually thin (0.7 mm if I remember) Aluminum shaped and riveted to the original (or maybe donor) tank cover. Please do share with us what your creativity cranks out! 1313 |

Hi Prez,this is my X1 tankcover.Ok it's 0,8mm thin Aluminium handbanded.It's on the original tankcover.1313,showes you a pic from my first tankcover there was completle Aluminium formt. That was not so good,but they material was to bad for my work.So i have taken only 2 pices from the old Alucover to the new one.I can 1313 send more pic's or ask him for my E-mail address,so i can answer about your question's.I need 3 week,every evening and the hole weekend to made this cover. sorry for my bad english,but i'am a german guy Talk soon Frank ( TUTTE ) |

That does look really cool! However I don't think those things written on the cap are very accurate. Still, the workmanship is superb. He should make those and sell them to people. |
