REGARDING GORDON BUHLE's CA. MEMORIAL SERVICE

I am so glad I came across this site.

I am Gordon's ex-wife, Monique. I am helping in planning a casual memorial for Gordon this friday, Aug 19th.. (family funeral to be in Penn) Time and place not confirmed yet, but if you would like to come, please contact me via phone (408) 272-8363 home or (408) 315-2158 cell.

I walked the accident site, and found his turn signal, eyeglasses, and other pieces of his bike.

Gordon's family is planning on meeting tomorrow at 2:40pm on bear creek rd, at the crash site. (7.6 miles up from highway 17). If you would like to pay your respects, and join us, I think that would be encouraging for his family.

I hope someone reads this tonight, and gets the word out.. Thanks
Monique (Buhle) Morales

Please don't think less of me, I have been hearing about Gordon Buhle for the last few, but I have no idea as to who he is. Could someone please explain.

Take care, be safe.

Gordon was a long-time Buell owner and rider, lived in the Santa Cruz, CA area. had well over 100,000 miles on his S2, altho his Thunderbolt still looks like new. he was already racking up impressive mileage on his Firebolt.

calm, friendly, kind, generous. always willing to help a Bueller in need, spent considerable time on phone and via e-mail helping Buellers around the country dial in their bikes, whether engine, chassis, or otherwise.

was an original member of PACBOG when that club was still alive, and was one of PACBOG's official representatives. wrote a monthly tech column for Sportbike USA called "Buell by Buhle."

Gordon was a man who typically let his actions speak rather than his words, and his actions spoke volumes about who he was.

always with a smile and a mischievous glint in his eye, willing to ride great distances for any reason, or for no reason at all. rode with a mature, level head, the same as he conducted the rest of his life.

Gordon was "just" a Buell enthusiast, just like the rest of us.

he was a good man.

ride in peace, Gordon. i will not forget.

Jonathan,

Gordon was a well known member of the Buell community in California. He was a founding member of American SportBike Night almost 7 years ago.

He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

I just talked to Monique on the phone and she confirmed that the ride by Gordon's brother and friends will be TODAY and not tomorrow.

Monique also gave me details on the memorial service on Friday, but those plans are still being worked out, and she will call me and post more information when it is available.

Thanks to Jerry for pointing out the time difference in the post.

I've been a member of this site and sacborg for a couple of years and it really hits home when people you met on the web are lost like this. I didn't know Gordon but like Andy Spiegel, he sounds like a helluva guy who will be missed. Godspeed Gordon

I Googled Gordon's name this evening and found this page. Boy, it does take you back. For you new folks here take a look at the names that are still here today and you can see how deep the roots of these boards run. You'll notice that Ferris gives a mention to Gordon as the "go to guy" for carb problems.

good stuff, thank you everyone who has contributed.

Vik is working on the Laguna paver design, and will be soliciting input from SacBORG and BADWEB soon.

thank you again to JB2 and Kim Bantz for handling the money end, and for the nightly updates.

pretty cool to go back on MO and see a little Buellish history in the making.

OK, it's taken me a while to create the old logo in digital format. Thanks to Aaomy for providing a scan of his old Manual.

I would like to get his bike's SN, his birthdate, the date of his accident and I'm working on a phrase to sum up Gordon. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's what I have so far. I know the logo still isn't perfect; but, it's close enough to get this started. I'll work on cleaning it up some more tomorrow.

great logo, Vik

here's the latest:

Gordon's memorial RIDE - Sat 8/20 - 11am sharp departure

NOTE: Please arrive earlier than 11am, for social time and reminiscing.

Our mournful, yet spirited, 80-mile tour will begin at exactly 11am.

The start site is the Sempervirens Point Overlook, a roomy paved lot with a great view - one of Gordon's favorites. It's located approximately 2 mi. beyond the Saratoga Gap's Hiways 9/35 crossroads. After halting at the Gap's STOP sign, take Hiway 9 towards Boulder Creek/Santa Cruz. Once you've traveled about 2 mi., the wide-open Overlook appears on the left, along a straightaway, opposite the Chesebrough Boy Scout camp entry.

After our 11am sharp departure, we'll return on Hiway 9 to the Gap; turn left onto Hiway 35 to Alice's Restaurant; turn left onto Hiway 84 to San Gregorio; turn left onto Stage Road to Pescadero; turn right onto Pescadero Road to Hiway 1; turn left onto Hiway 1 to Whale Bakery in Davenport for refreshments. Then we'll continue S on Hiway 1; turn left onto Bonny Doon Road/Pine Flat Road to Empire Grade Road; turn left onto Empire Grade Road to Jamison Creek Road: turn right, descending Jamison Creek Road to Hiway 236; turn right onto Hiway 236 to Boulder Creek; turn left onto Hiway 9 and continue back to the Overlook.

Whether you're astride a bike or driving a car, please join us this coming Sat.....

Jim,

I have cleaned up the paver design a little more and have a file ready for Laguna. It's larger than I can post here, so I'll zap it to your email address later tonight.

At the request of Monique, I made one with a Blue logo, too.

Random question...

Researched a bit on the Laguna pavers and cost, etc, if enough is raised, would it be possible to get multiple pavers put together, each with a portion of the design Vic posted to make one huge paver in Gordon's honor? Don't know if it is possible, but it would be awesome to see it.

Fear not death.
Fear life absent adventure,
Mere existence devoid of risk.
Live! Love! Ride!

A worthy life
shuns neither risk
nor adventure.
Live! Love! Ride!

Just some variations on your theme for your consideration; use as you wish.

Do we know how many characters per line are allowed? The one example shown on http://www.laguna-seca.com/Scramp/Steps/ shows a max of 19 character spaces for the 12"x12" Brick ("LEGEND, BOBBY RAHAL" ) and the pdf order form only provides for 15 characters, with all letters mandated to be uppercase.

Very nice work Vik.

Thank you for what you are doing.

BTW, is the motto one that Gordon used? I believe the motto is fitting, but just curious if it was one of Gordon's.

The motto actually came from Skyguy.

I'll doublecheck on exactly how many characters can be placed on a paver.

Black, I like your mottos, too. I'll play around with them.

All lines are less than 19 characters. And within constraints displayed on the website. (Logo to appear above or below text. I'll try to do a sandstone overlay and bevel the text/logo to give a possible "finished" look.

Gordon's brother, Chris, needs a M/C for Sat ride

At this point, we're unsure if either of Gordon's 2 remaining M/Cs ['84 GPz 550 & '95 S2] are dependably operable.

Has anyone local got a trusty spare steed for Chris [MV 1000 & XLCR Cafe Racer]?

Vic,

That motto touches on a great idea. Would be cool if we could find a way to make it sound more positive though, meaning replace "not lived" with a more positive sounding or at least less negatively worded phrasing. Make it more uplifting sounding than berating sounding. Am I making any sense?
