From Jim Armstrong: >A motorcyclist killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon in the Santa Cruz >Mountains has been identified as 48-year-old Gordon Buhle of Boulder >Creek Santa Cruz County Deputy Coroner Steve Paskett said today. > >The crash occurred around 2:40 p.m. when Buhle, driving a 2003 Buell >motorcycle west on Bear Creek Road just east of Deer Creek Road >apparently crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming >traffic. > >Buhle and the motorcycle slammed into an eastbound Isuzu box van, >resulting in fatal injuries to Buhle, the CHP reported. > I am truly saddened by Gordon's passing. He was a member of American Sport Bike Night and a very decent human being. I am just sorry and very heavy hearted. Ride safe. Jon |

Gordon was a great friend, a buell and motorcycle enthusiast, and a great rider. I am in shock. Gordon had written many articles during the pacbog days, done presentations for us at American Sport Bike Night, had over 100,000 on his S2, and was putting many miles on his XB....WE have lost a good friend. Those of you who never met Gordon will never know a truly great person. He was a generous, considerate soul who always had time to talk, and loved Buells. Try to find his "Buhle on Buell" newsletters or reprints, they truly are informative, insightful reading. Rest in peace, you will be missed. Ken Nelson |

For those of you that didn't know Gordon, he put over 100,000 miles on his 95 S2. He put a lot of work into it to get that milage and went to great pains to keep the original engine in it to keep the S/N matching. The bike looked no more than a year old. He bought a Firebolt right when they first came out and rode the out of it. My last big ride with him was the Four-Play ride up past Snail's house on the way to SPLASH. Damn good guy. He will be missed. Vik |

This is a terrible thing to wake to. Gordon has been a member of the Buell community for many years and was a true enthusiast. His writing was enjoyed as was his company, by many of us. I am very sorry to hear this news and his family peace and comfort. Court Canfield |

Pic of Gordon and FMJ at ASBN dinner just last month I was kidding with Gordon chiding him to hurry up and chew, trying to get him to laugh so I could snap a funny shot of him with mouth open full of salad. He managed to avoid providing the embarrassing salad mouth shot I was trying for, and we had a good laugh about it. I didn't know Gordon well. I knew him well enough to know he was the kind of person who makes you feel better just for being around him. Those kind of people are rare. He was a giver not a taker. A man of high caliber. I just did a perusal of Gordon's posts here; his username is Buell_by_buhle in case anyone is interested. What a great, positive, helpful, gentle man. I wish I had known him better. I'm better for just having known him a little. Gordon will be sorely missed on this Earth. Does anyone have an address or email for Gordon's family? I bought a new S3 in 1997 and from the first ride it ran like an off-balanced washing machine. A couple of weeks later I joined a club called PACBOG and an enthusiastic guy named Ferris turned me onto Gordon to solve my extreme lean condition. Many e-mails and phone calls later my S3 ran like a raped ape due to the fact that Gordon walked me through the rejetting process and helped me tune the bike over the phone, telling me which way to crank the idle mixture screw. I never got to meet him in person but I thought of him everytime I cracked the throttle and the S3 would wheelie at will. Thanks Ferris. RIP Gordon. (Message edited by jb2 on August 11, 2005) |

A Photographic Celebration of Life by Gordon Buhle Looking back on my own life and those I've been with, I feel that not enough folks take the time to really experience life... to slow down, get outside, smell the roses, or really see what’s around them wherever they go. Most people seem to have their heads down against the grindstone of daily life. It pays to stop and look around once in awhile, to see the beauty around you. In this spirit, please linger a few moments and "...align yourself with the rhythm of the nature all around you. No longer dreaming of pizzas or all those great movies you’re missing. Just content to be an observer, being in awe of it all, and that alone being enough to satisfy your soul." -- Dan Price, The Moonlight Chronicles, A Wandering Artist’s Journal |

I'm shocked and very saddened by this news. Gordon was one of the good dudes. More than once he offered me a place to stay even when I wasn't looking for one. And he was always very helpful in talking about products and how they could be improved and such. He was a real Buell enthusiast. Godspeed Gordon. You will be missed. This hobby has a cruel side indeed. Stay safe, everyone. Al |

I hate seeing these threads. It's sobering and makes you realize how important some things are and how trivial other things are. RIP Gordon |
