I've been everywhere trying to find the Best performance exhaust system for my x1, I'm totally stock right now, only have 1800miles but really want to kick it up a few pony's, torque is great but you know how it goes more POWER, just can't decide on which exhaust is best for me..I can say that I think D&D is out...to loud and hear not top performance, Or should I just go with Buell race kit for about600bux that's about where I'm at right now..Any help would be appreciated...BTW What's this Drummer exhaust i've been hearing about?

The drummer is for the XB models, so that is not an option. If sound level is an issue the pro series exhaust, which is different than the race kit, might be an option.

Glenn,
NOt as many options as their used to be, but of the still available ones (V&H, Supertrapp/Buell Pro Series, Two brothers, D&D), I highly recommend the supertrapp/Pro series. IT is the most bullet proof of the pipes out there, is tunable for sound/power, and the mounting system/fit is very good. We sell more of those than any others for the tube frame Buells these days. See herefor a picture. The rear hangers have been improved since that picture, it has a nice T-bolt clamp arrangement now.

I loved the Supertrapp IDS that i had on my Cyclone. Shoulda kept it when I sold the Cyclone and figured out a way to put it on the new XB9.

Pro Series exhaust (if you can still get it) and then get the repacking material from American Sport Bike.

I had the D&D full system (headers and muffler) on my 01 X1. No packing required and built like a tank.

Is it possible to get a new pro series header? Mine has cracked been welded and cracked again but it works so good I'd like to stay with the same setup. I'm not sure it's going to stay together if I have it welded and polished again. Any other good options?

My vote for the V&H. I've not had any problems with the mounting tab or hanger in over 20,000 miles. The V&H has to be the lightest slip-on available, too. Nice mellow sound - maybe a little loud.

Check with Daves. If not, watch ebay. I see several each month.

Every once in a while the front bracket holding the Buell Pro Series Muffler will crack. During SPLASH last year I didn't notice it in time (having way too much fun) and it broke the back bracket as well. That heavy muffler hanging there and bouncing around cracked the rear pipe just south of the O2 sensor. I had it welded and repolished and everything looked great until after Border Raid when I noticed a small crack starting where the weld was. If I can't find a replacement header I can get a piece from my stock pipe welded in I guess.

I just purchased the Full D&D exhaust and Ecm from DaveS...Havn't got it yet..but now I've got a lower rockerbox gasket leak..you would think that they would put a better gasket there than that paper gasket to begin with..looks like another 500 outa pocket..
