Absolutely NOT. It will fit OK, it will look almost identical, and your brakes will lock up when you get them hot. Do not mount that lever on the tuber perch. The cam profiles on the piston actuator part of the lever are subtley different.

Just received my Corbin seat for my S3T. I figure I have to transfer the lock post to the Corbin from the stock seat. But, what do I do about the lock latch?

Mark,

All you should have to transfer is the lock post. My corbin had a bar across the back for the lock latch.

If you want a picture let me know and I will go out to the garage and take one.

OK,
Please explain the remarks about the adjustable brake lever on a tube frame Buell. I bought an X1 master w/adjustable lever and took the lever only off of it and put it on my 98 S3 with no problems whatever so far. I can get the lever just closer enough to fit on setting 3 of 5. I have had no indication of brake lockup...so how hot do I have to get the brakes and is this a sudden catastrophic event? You got me wondering...

The XB lever can't be put on a Tuber.

I believe it leaves the pressure relief port covered which leads to brake lockup after fluid expansion.

Looking into converting te controls from my '97 S1 from bars to a clip-on style set up, any suggestions? I am simultaniously looking to replace the forks but not sure how deep my pockets are gonna go in the end.
I have heard tail of a fork recall for the 97 s1's is there an easy way to tell looking if it was done?

I don't know of any fork recall...the shock was. As far as going to clip-ons it's a simple affair. You can either drill holes in the handlebars for the dimples in the controls, or grind them off and just assemble them with enough torque that they don't move around. You'll have excess length in your cables and may have to re-route to keep 'em looking tidy. The slim tank leaves plenty of room for adjustment. Check your throttle/idle cable through the forks full range of motion when you're done and re-adjust if necessary. I would strongly recommend bar-end mirrors as standard mirrors don't work well with clip-ons.

Graves, Vortex, LSL, Attack, Harris, Woodcraft and a few others make great clip-ons.

I run a set of Vortex 54mm clip-ons on my 98S!WL track bike. Very nice bars, very strong. The only issue is you must use a slim tank as the Manta tank will hit the bars.

Can't remember who said there was a fork recall but looked at the matrix and can't find one, oh well. Guess I'll go price new forks. Theres a 54mm clip-on set in American Sport Bike for about 170 that looks pretty nice. I have been looking into bar ends for a while as I don't really like the look or sight picture of the stock lolly pops.

thank you, compared to after market that is'nt too bad, i paid $50 a set for (gay)chrome harley-like o-ring pegs, what can i say, they were comfy, however i'm scraping them left and right, not to mention they're kind of goofy looking, i don't know what i was thinking. i'm gonna get a hold of daves and get those millenium pegs!

Finally got the rear bracket mounted on my Corbin seat for my S3T. It is still a bear to get the seat on. Are there any tricks to fitting the seat? The rear lock latch doesn't seem to want to hook in. The center post seems too tall also, I already screwed it in all the way.

I had a ton of trouble with a Corbing G&L I bought for the S3. Fit was poor, seat not built as specified and on top of that uncomfortable as all get-out. Took 2 trips back to Corbin on my dime to get even close to what I ordered and a still shappy fit - i.e. I gave up.

I seem to remember I had to do a bit of bending on the latch piece to make it slip above the Corbin metal bracket - make sure to take the latch off the lock before bending on it, otherwise you may crack the tail section. I also had to trim a bit of rubber off the seat "bumpers" to get the seat on. I had no trouble with the center peg - I used the stock one. If you're sure it's too long, maybe you can trim a bit off the top of it?? But make sure you want to keep the seat first.

I'll never buy another Corbin product.
