I'm about to replace isolators and swingarm bearings on my '97 Cyclone.
After reviewing some of the posts on the bearing replacement issue, I'm wondering if anyone was ever able to ascertain whether or not the sealed bearings some have fitted in the steering head would also work okay in the swingarm?
Al Lighton had posted that the sealed bearings were slightly thicker and would cause installation problems for the swingarm/isolators. See...

If that is the case and it would be prohibitive to use the sealed bearings in the swingarm, how do the Aquaspexx coated bearings rate? Are they working out okay for those who have used them?
I'm also a bit confused about what exact Timken bearing part numbers to use for both sealed and aquaspexx and plain unsealed/uncoated swingarm bearings.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have the sealed Timkin's in my front end.
I've been wondering about their use in the swing arm as well.
I'm going to redo my S2 with the stock non sealed variety.
I will need to do the M2 later this year.
It might be easier to use the sealed bearings on the S2 due to the removable side plates.
Guess I'll hae to ponder that one for a while.

Timkin # L44643 Standard inner cone non-sealed varity (Just in case anyone was wondering...)
The outer race was about $3.00 each, the inner bearing with seals was about $16.00 each.
The non sealed type bearings were around $6.00 if memory serves.

I recently picked up the factory parts for the sterring head and swingarm -- same PN's for both, so I suspect that any bearing that would fit one will fit the other -- I plan on putting zerk fittings for both, as well, so sealed isn't an issue for me -- keeping the bearing well-lubed may increase the service life -- just a data point |

My S2's I put the one on the swingarm, bottom center for easy access. The frame neck, on the R/H side center also for easy access.... Hope this helps, can't do any pics at the moment.. |

Swingarm Bearings: Sealed, Coated, Timken P/N's?
