For those that are interested. Especially those in the military. I purchased the Mil Spec Vest and it is worth the money. Here are a few pictures of the vest.

The vest may look small, but it actually fits really well. It is adjustable on the side with elastic pull cords. It has a detachable ID holder in the front and a zipper pocket that actually offers quite a bit of room. The pocket in the rear velcro's shut and offers a nice amount of room as well. I really recommend this vest compared to the old orange mesh safety vests. As for the reflection, you should be able to tell in the picture above that it reflects light pretty good.

LOL - The camo and the high visability orange are an interesting combination.

Thanks for the pictures. It does look much nicer than the orange mesh.

I was debating whether to buy one last week. They've got 'em in stock at Cycle Gear. Just can't get past the $100 price tag. I think I'll stick with the $5 vest

For the Air Force guys...

ACC is currently rewriteing the AFI that contains required equipment for riding a motorcycle. (ie, bright contrasting color during day, refective at night)

We (Barksdale Freedom Riders)are trying to push thru a request that a large reflectorized patch (such as a riding group might display on the back of a jacket) will suffice for "contrasting and reflective at night".

We will know within a few months, once the new AFI comes out. Untill then, we'll just have to keep fighting the SP's about whats legal and what isn't...

You're not alone rock... Our MP's are just as anal. What's worse, the MC order and Safety order differ in their wording, only adding to the confusion.

We petitioned our local commander and got him to consent to bright colored clothing day, reflective night. It's so much better. The notion that reflective helps in daylight is absurd anyway...

$100 for a item that ICON itself says has a $50 MSRP. Way out of line.... The local shop has them on backorder. With the AFB(Little Rock) here they will sell alot of them.

Would a yellow helmet pass for bright colored clothing? : D

Loki, I was wrong, my memory is fading with age. My wife corrected me to $50. They're charging MSRP which was still too much for me. But I can bite off on $35.

Blake,

I thought we bought you a new one. Oh that's right. The $$$ was donated. That scoop of banana ice cream will have to do...
...as long as your shirt was bright enough to match.

Funny thing is, PMO defines bright colored clothing as any color other than uniform colors. So I can wear dark navy or greys and it's OK? So long as it's not Black, Green, Brown, or Tan. Where's the logic in that???

And of course, "contrasting"...what does that mean? If i have a white bike, then black is the perfect contrasting color...does that fly? NOPE lol

Just picked up one of these the other day. Now to freak them out at the gate......

I think I might even feel comfortable wearing this thing at night. Most of the time that is.....

For Icon to come out with that was one of the smartest things I have seen lately. Even though I didn't ride when I was in the Marine Corps, I knew that I wouldn't want to wear one of those floppy "road guard" vests that are mandatory on base. It is great to see a company that listens to what a small segment of a small segment of consumers really needs.
