hey folks took my old cyclone out today to teach the son how to ride. on the way home on the I-state, about 60 mph, it started to smoke. i was behind and was getting oil on my visor. then the smoke got serious and i passed the boy up and waved him to the shoulder. the buell was trickling oil out of the carburetter mouth. a serious puke onto the exhaust, whjich was where the smoke was coming from. oil on the ground, oil all over the left side of the bike, oil dripping steadily out the mouth of the carb. there is no oil in the exhaust pipe-- just normal dry soot. got in late so i havent so much as taken the tank off to look at the top end, or put a meter on it to check the compression. but looking at the manual's two-color oil diagram, i can see no obvious way for a continuous stream of oil to make its way to the carb mouth while the tailpipe is dry. but the PCV system, perhaps? thats the only way i can see oil coming from the rocker boxes into the intake. but why the sudden flow? is something blocked? i am more familiar with old british machinery, but this buell has always been my go-to machine for reliability. |

right side of the bike, sorry. what would suddenly pressurize the crankcase to flood the top end? compression test is indicated, it seems (Message edited by dorset on July 08, 2024) |

Check your primary oil level. Blown crank seal could be pushing primary oil into crankcase. SteveH |

Or do I have that ass backwards and the oil would fill the primary? SteveH |
