Been dealing with this for a while.... When my X1 sits, I get a small oil spot right under the front of the motor. (I keep the bike up on a rear jack stand when not in use). I don't see any oil coming from the top end of the motor and the bottom of the motor case is greasy. I also don;t notice much oil consumption either. To be honest, I am not sure if it's engine or primary oil. It has a new primary and derby cover gasget and still happening.

Main seal?

Clean it real well and spray aerosol antiperspirant on suspected points of seepage. Come back later and see.

It's worse than I thought. I left her sitting for a couple of months and the oil tank was dry as a bone. Oil on the front of the exhaust pipe.

did you fire bike up with oil tank open to see if it filled back up? wifes 96 sporster wet sumps cuz it sits too long. she hasn't ridden since the strokes. when there isn't any oil on stick, i just take a few moments to see.
or , did you have over 2 qts on the floor?

Oil level dropping in tank with the bike sitting that long is very unlikely to be caused by a leak. +1 for what Sagehawk said.
