Are they interchangeable or completely different animals? I know the tuber one won't have the fan or exhaust valve function, but could that be added? Could they be swapped?

Well, it is possible. Already done that. You need to know what You have to do though. There is probably no sense in running a tuber ecu in an XB but vice versa can make a lot of sense.
