Bought a billet engine mount to my 98 s1 lightning, but it was a bit shorter than the original (5mm tops). By shorter i mean from the top of the mount down to the holes where the head bolt goes.
Personally I dont think its a problem, but i want to be sure.

I also bought a front isolator motor mount, and this fitted sort of crookedly on the front isolator.. its like the mount is to much bent, and its pressing alot in the "front" of the isolator.
does this mean I`ve got a isolator mount for another bike mayby?

Who did you purchase the billet engine mount from? What brand is it. Also photos might help. of the mount and also in position.
Same for the front rubber isolator.
It would also be worth checking if you have the isolator upside down.
Also does the billet engine mount touch the rocker covers? It may be that your front head mounting points may be damaged if it does. Pictures will help alot.

bought the front engine mount from billetbikebits on ebay.
the isolator mount is also bought on ebay (SEMA engineered velocity).
posted some pics of the engine mount, but havent had time to do the isolator mount yet (try to do that soon).
the engine mount doesnt touch the rocker cover, but its really close though..

I'm pretty sure the mount you have is made for the updated isolator which may be slightly thicker and is supposed to be mounted from below instead of on top of the frame and that center bolt looks way too long. Try mounting from below and see if that helps.

yeah i thought the bolt was a bit long...
i actually ordered a new isolator a couple of days ago!
ill try with that then when it gets here.
but then the isolator mount will not fit i guess...

The stenzel brace will still work, if you mount the new isolator under the frame as shown in the diagram and have the proper washers in place that will also lower that bolt a small bit and it may clear the neck after that.

now i have tried and mount the new isolator and bumped into a couple of things...
in the paper it says that i should mount it from the top (because i have "the notched" tubeframe).
the bolt that i got with the billet engine mount does not fit through the big washer or even through the isolator...
and the bolt that came with the isolator is perfect length, but its a bit smaller in diameter and does not fit that nice in the billet engine mount...

THERE WAS SOMEONE ELSE A FEW MONTHS AGO HAD THE SAME ISSUE, HIS FRAME HAD A NOTCH LIKE YOURS BUT IT WASN'T AS NOTCHED AS OTHER NEWER MODELS, I BELIEVE HE MOUNTED THE ISOLATOR UNDERNEATH THE FRAME IN THE UN-NOTCHED VERSION AND IT FIXED HIS ISSUE. JUST GIVE IT A TRY, NOT GOING TO HURT ANYTHING. THE BOLT ISSUE IS BECAUSE THEY SWAPPED FROM A 1/2" DIAMETER BOLT TO A 7/16". THE BILLET MOUNT YOU GOT IS FOR THE OLD ORIGINAL STYLE ISOLATOR WHICH IS NO LONGER MADE. YOU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE MOUNT FOR THE NEWER STYLE ISOLATOR. I BELIEVE THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE ON HERE THAT JUST USED A REDUCER SHIM IN THE MOUNT HOLE.

okey, then i need to get a reducer shim only.
I also noticed that I cant get a pipe on the 16mm bolt because it wont fit in the billet mount (the washer dont fit either)...

Try a reducer shim for the billet mount and then try to mount the isolator under the frame. No part of that isolator should be touching the frame and it looks like yours is. If its touching the frame or even close to touching the frame it defeats the whole purpose of the isolator. If you're using a 16mm bolt that could also be an issue too. I assume the bolt head is 16mm and the shaft diameter is 12mm? It's supposed to be a 7/16" bolt which is 11.1125mm and last I did one there was not a lot of wiggle room to squeeze in a bigger bolt.

do i have to use red loctite on the head-bolts?
i have loctite 243(blue), and was wandering if that would do the job?
I also read that someone use anti-seize

tried mounting the isolator under the frame, but that didnt work out...
I was just wandering how much gap you think i shoud have between the isolator and the frame? (its about 2mm now)
maybe I could grind of a bit from the isolator?
