So I just received a used belt from a fellow badwebber who is parting out a Uly. It came in a plastic bag bent into a "U" shape. Now, we all know not to bend our belts backwards right? ( all but one of us apparently ). The backwards bend had about a 6" radius while in the bag; maybe it was reverse bent worse getting it into the bag?
My intention for the used belt is to carry it as an emergency spare. It needs to live long enough to get me home and wait for a new belt to come in. On a trip that could amount to several thousand miles.
Should I be worried about damage to the belt compromising its ability to last another 3000 miles? Is there any way to inspect this belt and tell if it has been damaged?

They are designed to be bent backwards, that is what happens when it is installed as it goes over the tensioner.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Froggy thanks for the reply. The only reply; somehow I expected more. I seem to recall bending a belt backwards was suspected to be a cause of early failure. Back when there was a lively thread dedicated to breaking belts. Ahh, the good ole' days, ...
In any case thanks for the reply; I've stopped worrying.
