Hi everyone! After having to sell my XB12R a few years back due to immigration, I am now the lucky owner of a '97 S1! The bike has been standing for over a year so I'm going to have to do some work on it as oil is pouring through the probably dried up gaskets. for now, I want to see if I can replace/repair the rear suspension. I have set it to maximum stiffness since I'm about 220 Lbs and the previous rider was a lot lighter. When riding I keep bouncing though and I wonder if it needs servicing after standing for a while. It is a newer suspension since the original parts were replaced after factory recall. I saw a suspension for a Buell 1125 R that looks pretty cool and I wonder if it would fit my S1 and save me the trouble of repairing the old one? Looking for some feedback from you guys! Thanks in advance!

Sorry but you cannot use the monoshocks of the aluminum frame Buells on the tube framed Buells. The tube frame Buells used a backwards working shock similar to the ones on a Harley Softtail. The Aluminum frame Buells all used a conventional monoshock which works exactly like the twin shock motorcycles. The two shock systems are not interchangable. I'm not saying it can't be done but it would require extensive rework of your frame and swingarm to get it done. Both welding and machining of new parts would have to be done.
