For the HD powered Buells, I have a pretty simple question here... Why aren't we running something like Redline 10/60 when we have cool mornings but long commutes? Wouldn't we have a little bit better protection at startup and better heat protection at highway speeds? |

The 10W part of that 10W60 oil would provide potentially less protection at low temperatures compared to a 20W50 rated synthetic oil. The more viscous W60 hot temperature rating would provide potentially more protection while sucking away more power from the engine. It takes more power to run higher viscosity oil, especially at higher engine speeds. Might be a good idea though if you're riding in high temperatures and city traffic. Sorry for the slow response. |
