Hi Folks,

It’s time to replace the leaking fork seals on my ’96 S1. I do all my own work, have the FSM, and know the fork fluid level measurement is 4.33” / 110mm.

I searched the Knowledge Vault and couldn't find what I need to know.

I want to make sure I buy enough fluid to do the job… Does anybody know the approximate fluid volume in ounces each WP fork leg ?

I suspect someone here has the info, but for the time being . . . .

Disassemble, clean, and reassemble one fork leg. Fill with water per the service manual. Drain the water into the measuring container of your choice and you will have the answer.

Hope this helps, Dave

Thanks for your reply but water...Nay Nay... not even for measurement purposes. I'll just buy 2 liters or 2 quarts and make sure I can return one if un-opened. If no one else chimes in with a volume before I do the job, I'll post-up how much I used when the job's done.

As it turns out, you only need to buy 1 liter. I could not find any WP 5wt fork oil so I used used BelRay 5wt and all is good. Each WP fork leg needed a little under 0.5 liter to meet the proper fill measurement.
