2006 XB12X. stock.

Bike won't run past a sputtering 5 seconds.

So, we now think my ECM is dead and I bought a new blank Y0152.3a8 blank from a dealer. It's supposed to be compatible.

DIY question.

I have the ecmspy 1.12.27 and cable and it communicates with the old ecm in the bike.

Is it as simple as saving out the old EEPROM.txt and map.msq files from the bike.

Then swap in the new ECM. connect ecmspy, then burn the EEPROM (with my map loaded into it)?

I'm assuming my old firmware will burn into the new ECM, being listed as compatible.

I've searched and can't find anyone listing how to install a new blank ECM. Someone said it's a dealer visit, but I'd like a DIY method.

Thanks in advance.
Dave

That should work. BUEIB310 is the stock firmware for the 2006 XB12 and BUEGB231 is the race firmware.

How blank is the new ECM? My understanding is these days they ship without any firmware, and then the dealer uses their computer to upload the firmware and program after punching in your VIN.

If it is that blank, even ECMspy won't even be able to help you as it can't change the firmware. If it already has the same firmware version, you can do the reflash like you describe.

I don't know how blank it is. i'm going to try later today.

A dealer visit may be needed.

OK, so it wasn't the ECM.

When the tank located hoses to pump/regulator exploded, some debris got in the line and fouled my injectors.
Either that or while disassembled for a few weeks in the shop, some dirt got in the fuel line and went into injectors.

Either way, it's on the way back home soon.

I might have a new and never plugged in ECM on Ebay soon.

Good news! Thanks for the resolution, it may help somebody else someday.
