So I'm new to this, however, I know an okay amount about carburetors and jets and what not but, I need to know if there is a certain brand to use. I have a 2009 Buell blast that I am going to be modifying as in the air intake systems, and in doing so I know I need to change and adjust the jets to a #45 pilot jet and #170 main. Do I measure the ones in my bike already and go off that, or is there a brand I use? I know they have different sizes as in length and hex size (large/ small). Help? The bikes come stock with Keihin carbs, should I use the genuine Keihin jets?? (Message edited by usspancakes on July 26, 2016) | ||

I've done a lot of this with dirt bikes. You do need to get the right jet for the carb, but I've never had a problem with off brand (or no name brand) jets. I've heard the measurements may not be as precise, but it's a squishy art anyway, and you will buy 5 or 10 jets anyway and do trial and error until you get the right one for your bike (in that elevation in that temperature). So if they are all off by a little, it almost doesn't matter. |
