Has anyone machined the rear wheel of a Ulysses to look like the front wheel. In other words twelve blades instead of six ugly legs. I wonder if this OK to do but the Ully wheels are stronger than the other X models so in my mind it is doable. Any thoughts advise would be most welcome.

The only part of the wheel that is stronger on the Uly wheels is the lip/rim, it is reinforced to be more resistant to damage from potholes and usual stuff you hit on dirt roads.

I can't advise you modify the rear wheel the way you want, the rear wheel does a significantly different job than the front wheel, hence it was designed differently.

The front wheel uses the zero torsion load brakes so it does not need to resist the circular torque. The rear wheel has the solid looking hub, and reinforced spokes to hold up to the torques from the hub mounted brake disk and rear pully. If you remove the center of those spokes, it will just crumble apart.
