Anyone got any good tips? I just rode 2 hrs in rain, lightning, etc. Was trying to get somewhere, but visibility was so bad through my visor I ended up turning back. I've got an older suomy helmet with all the vents taped up and it still let a bunch of water in, but the biggest issue was vison. Being in the dark of 0500 didn't help but I couldn't see a damn thing - especially with cars coming from the other direction. I've ridden in the rain (as well as sleet and snow) but don't remember it being that bad. Maybe it's because I'm just back on two wheels after a long hiatus but I'm wondering if anyone has any good tips that I may have forgotten or just never learned in the first place. Being wet wasn't too much of an issue, but the crappy visibility was, so if you don't mind sharing some tips, or good helmet suggestions post em up!

CeeJay,

Get off the road when the weather is like you describe. Especially when you see lightning, find a place to hide.

normally I'd agree, used to find a good tree or overpass to sit under, but I was trying to get to a meet - up. A few hours later, I'd have probably been much better off becuase then at least it would have been light out. My old helmets, HJC and KBC seemed to work better at shedding water - I may switch back, plus trying some plastic polish/Rain - X.

Maybe time for a new helmet, I've never had water intrusion on any of mine even with vents open.

Ceejay,
NEVER NEVER EVER under a lone tree!

Worst place too be when lighting is striking around you. Your overpass idea
would be fine.
