I have a dumb question. How hot should my bike be getting? At stoplights my legs can feel the heat. Any suggestions/answers?

Only thing I've done to it is added a k&n filter and just recently reset the tps.

Being an air cooled engine, the temperature will greatly vary depending on weather, riding conditions, and so on.

Feeling heat coming off of it is normal, it has to go somewhere. As long as the cooling fan is working, and the bike is not entering skip spark (flashing the check engine light and misfiring the rear cylinder), all is likely to be fine.

Hard to say without seeing it first hand. I would try and hook up to the computer with ECMspy and look for any fault codes. I would then run the fan diagnostic to make sure that it is running.

From there I would take it for a ride while data logging, and see if I could reproduce the issue. Then I would check the log and look for things like engine temperature, it could be the engine is overheating, or it could be a malfunctioning engine temperature sensor

"or it could be a malfunctioning engine temperature sensor"

This would not be unheard of.

These were the trouble codes. I ran the diagnostic on everything that was on the ecm spy and nothing. I cleared the trouble codes and after the bike warmed up they were gone.
