I have a 2007 XB12R with K&N and D&D. It has 5k miles on it and it has surged and missed a little since I picked it up from the original owner. I changed oil and filter, primary oil and plugs (10r12a)and new HD battery. I did an afv and tps reset. The bike is fouling plugs now and is missing and I had oil on the back the of the rear cylinder and cooling fan but there are no leaks... I believe it was oil mist caused by crankcase pressure. I am really starting to get frustrated with this bike I have only had zx10Rs in the past and never had trouble like this.}

Hey Stan, welcome to the board

It sounds like the ECM was never replaced or retuned for the aftermarket exhaust. It is running lean causing that issue. EBR has a Race ECM that will get it running nice:

Either the Race ECM or going back to the original exhaust and filter will resolve that issue.

All these are symptoms of not letting the bike warm up properly. The air cooled motors don't heat up evenly, and if ridden while cold it can cause the gaskets to leak, most commonly the rear valve cover and head gaskets. The oil can eventually ruin the bearings in the fan killing that too. Assuming the stock airbox setup, the oil mist from the crankcase pressure dumps into the airbox and mixes in with the intake charge. Assuming it is still connected correctly, this is not what you are seeing.

UPDATE! Fixed... mostly

I checked the primary drive chain and it had no slack in some positions, fixed it and set it to service manual spec. I then burned the race ecm eeprom that I created using my stock eeprom as the base and modifying the map to match the race ecm map. I did a tps reset and set it at 5.5 and it runs almost perfectly now... No oil accumulation since and I even commuted it today. All surging and miss is gone and the engine sounds more dialed in than it did when I picked it up and the other guy had done no service at all... which is to be expected with less that 5k miles on it.

Also decal pop with D&D is almost gone.
