The bike is running fine, no apparent issues, but the check engine light has come on. Jumped it out and came up with code 11 & 16, charged the battery fully. Rode to work and the light is still on. The question is where do i go from here? Do i need to replace the TPS or is there something else i should check first?

Have the battery load tested. Clean battery terminals bike grounds etc.. make sure the bike is charging voltage is good. A tps reset wouldn't hurt clear codes.

As Gabby says. After cleaning grounds, etc, confirm that you are getting 14ish volts across the battery terminals at 2k or more RPM. That is a simple way to show the health of the system. And low voltage can show multiple codes.

If the charging system checks out, and the bike is running fine, you are good to go. The check engine light will stay on if the trouble codes are not cleared. Without the manual in front of me, I believe you need the factory tool to do that. Otherwise, the light will clear itself after 50 cycles. One cycle is start, run for 30sec, shut off.

And a TPS reset can be done on your bike without any tools. Check the manual for the procedure.

hey guys, thanks for the response. My multimeter crapped out, just got a new one, i will check everything later today. I just replaced the charging system last year so i hoe it isn't that, upgraded to the mosfet system from roadster. Did a tps reset to be safe. Battery was new too, not unheard of but very disappointing. I will keep you informed.

Hooked up the multimeter today, 12.6 static, 13.8-14 running. I will see if i can figure out how to clear the codes later and see what happens.

That sounds like the stator and voltage regulator are doing what they should be doing.

Question? why did you have to charge your battery fully.Was somthing left on or was the bike in storage without a battery maintainer.A low battery could cause sensor/ECM issues.If you don't have ecmspy etc the bike will after 50 cycles of operation 30 sec or more between each cycle of start and run, will clear the codes.
