Bike starts up fine in the morning, and when I get off work. If you ride bike for a while and say stop for gas, and restart bike she will make a grinding crunching noise and then start. Sounds awful. Any ideas.....

Mine has done that for years. I think a lot of them do that if you try to start it when it's already hot. I think it's somewhat normal. It sure is an ugly noise though!

I can usually avoid mine doing that if I give the starter button a quick blip, let go, then start it again. I think it's all caused by the engine actually reversing while the starter is still engaged.

My 08 XB does the same, but neither of my 06 12s have ever done it.

While it does worry me a little, it has never failed to start, it is something I will deal with if something actually breaks.
