Payback for two years of storage without prep. I turn on the petcock and fuel flows into the carb until its full, then flow stops. If I then twist the throttle: (a) there is no squirt of gas from the accelerator pump jet and (b) fuel starts flowing continuously from the overflow.
On the premise that the little hole from the accel pump to its jet is plugged, I swapped another float bowl from a spare carb. Same thing exactly. Could I have two plugged accelerator pump jets?
It seems the accelerator pump works by pressurizing the bowl. Fuel is then forced out the accel jet as the only outlet, correct? I can't understand how that pressure would open and hold open the float valve.
With the float bowl off and filled with fluid (paint thinner), I can poke a shaft down the acel pump hole. If I then plug the little hole in the bottom of the bowl to replicate a sealed bowl, nothing comes out the acel jet.
Ideas?
Can the acel jet be unscrewed from the bowl to soak in carb cleaner?
