I unfortunately suffered from a snowmobile accident last winter which resulted in me losing my right leg above the knee. I now have a prosthetic. I own a 2009 1125 CR. LOVE IT. I would like to ride this summer. Are there any above knee amputees that still ride on here? If so, can you write how you safely go about it? If I find that coming to a stop or moving very slow is too unsteady with only one reliable leg, I may have to resort to a set of stabilizer wheels that deploy at very slow speeds. I know these exist for cruisers. Does anyone know of any that exist for my kind of bike? I am not having much luck with my online research. The only other issue is the rear brake. That can be easily converted into a hand control, so no worries there. Appreciate the info!

I'm sorry to hear about the loss if your leg. Boy did you come to the right place!

Send me a shipping address please. I have a pay it forward favor I want to pay forward (compliments of Jim Bantz).

I'm sure we have the talent here to find a solution . . . . There used to be a fellow who showed up at Homecoming shy a leg and had modified his bike.

Check out the info Reep provided and I'll bet we hear some suggestions from the folks . .

Thanks for the heads-up Reep. I've put Nick in touch with Dave. Should be an interesting journey for all concerned. I have no doubt he'll be riding by the time the weather breaks. Maybe he'll post up his progress here on the BWB? thumbsup

His right leg issue could be solved via the Dave Barr method or with a linked braking set-up using the front brake lever to actuate both brakes. Should be an easy modification either way.

Good luck Nick!
