I put a deposit on a new to me Buell s2. Assuming everything goes as planned it will be mine this weekend. I Oscillated between a 2002 m2 and the 95 m2 and in the end, the history and style of the s2 won me over. I have been riding the same motorcycle for the past 24 years (a BMW 650), and I think this will be my next work horse bike. I'm looking forward to getting to know it and wading through the pages here to learn more about it.

First question: what is the best service manual? I have a Clymer for my r65 which is nearly encyclopedic, but I also have one for a cl350 I am building and it is very disappointing for that bike.

Second question - is the header heat really that bad? I ride to commute which will vary from 9 mile suburban commute to 100 mile highway commute. For longer rides I will likely have my riding over pants on (textile with armor).

Cheers in advance for any advice. Photos to follow.

The Buell service manual is the best one and get the parts manual too. Header heat is not too bad, at least on the M2, S3, and Uly, but haven't tried the S2.

Thanks for the reply. I was considering this service manual and weighing getting the ceramic coated headers to assist in heat management: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/21/ 726673.html?1384835499

But if the heat is not a problem for some, I will just ride it and decide if it becomes problematic.

Thanks again

Cheese, the heat is no big deal.
The best manual is the factory service manual like Rocket said.
Watch for an incoming email...

Here is a photo from the ad: Not the original colors, but I like it. There is gratuitous placement of the HD shield that I may do something about, but we will see. Thank you for all the advice so far
