Has anyone installed heated grips on a M2?

I have a set of hot grips That I want to put on my 2000 M2.

I Cant decide where to tap into for the power.

I am thinking about using the O/W wire that feeds the gauge light and the turn signals.

Grips draw quite a bit of power. Run a separate line from the battery with a relay in line.
The relay will prevent you from leaving the grips on when you turn off the bike.

I tapped into my headlights on my firebolt. This way the grips only have power when the key is on. I used a three prong connector that had one female end and two male ends to split the power going to the headlights. This way I didn't have to splice any wires. I ran an in-line fuse off the power from the headlight just in case something went wrong. This was much simpler for me than running a relay. Set up has been like this for two years and no issues. My grip heaters are a set of cheapo trackside grips from cycle gear.

Depending on how you tap into the headlights, just remember that switching to high beam (which switches off the low beam) could turn off the heated grips. You wouldnt want to forget that and spend 30 minutes chasing an intermittant failure in your heated grip wiring before you remember. DAMHIK. : )

Switching your headlights to low beams is not the brightest thing . . . . .

XB's always have the low beam on with the key on. Even when the high beams are turned on the low beam stays constant. Maybe not all XB's but this is the case on my 2007xb12r firebolt. That's why I tapped into the low beam on mine. But good point... ...that would suck to do all that and not realize the low beam shuts off when the high beam is on!

I can only speak from experience on the S or the X bikes, not sure about the R bikes.

On my 03 9sx and my 07 12X, you have one lamp or the other on at any given time, unless the bike has been modified.

Not sure about the R bikes, never had one.

Suggest using a relay as has been done in this tutorial. I placed my relay and distribution block on the left side behind the triangular frame plate with the circular hole in it.

Wired a small toggle switch in the instrument cluster.

Here's some helpful instructions:
