Looking to add luggage for the 2007 uly since the bike had nothing except for luggage keys, go figure...

From looking around on ebay it will cost a fortune to get the top and side cases on my bike so I'm thinking to do it in parts starting from top case. From reading previous posts I found this website, http://www.capitalcycle.com/Rear-Rack-BUELL-Ulysse s_p_4236.html
Now how do I know what top case can mount to this rear rack? Do the top cases come with brackets that you can mount to any rack? Also found rack on ebay which is a lot more expensive but it does say what can mount to it.

Please enlighten me on my options.

Thanks

Medi,

The Buell top case is a Hepco-Becker "Journey" model case with a Buell emblem on it. That's it. I've never compared the two side-by-side, but I bet they are the same except for the emblem. I would think that the HB Journey case would fit in the Ulysses rear rack just like the Buell-labeled top case would, but you should call Hepco-Becker and verify that.

The Capital Cycle rack appears to be a Buell rack for the Hepco-Becker top case but possibly manufactured by some other company. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes aftermarket companies don't manufacture replacement parts to the same standards or fit as the OEM company does. One thing to be careful of is sometimes getting the part direct from Harley-Davidson is as cheap or cheaper than the prices of the knock-offs at aftermarket companies, so check pricing with HD before buying any aftermarket parts for your Buell on the web. I always prefer buying OEM parts vs. aftermarket if the price/part quality is comparable. On a rare occasion, an aftermarket company MAY make a part better than the OEM.

The racks you found on ebay (with the link you sent) are for other brand sidecases (Givi or Kappa). Those are NOT brackets for Hepco-Becker brand Journey sidecases. But check the web for the Givi or Kappa sidecases for these brackets. Who knows? They could be better than the Hepco-Becker.

P.S. Most Uly Badwebbers post questions like this in the "Uly" forum, "Big, Bad, and Dirty" (I think--going off memory).

Medi,

This will help you tremendously, as it has for me. It came from Badwebber "Froggy".

Thanks for clearing things up for me, Uly!
Would love to get those Givi luggage, too bad they are so damn expensive.
