04 firebolt xb12-- battery dies if bike sits for more than 6 hours or if i crank it to many times in a day. Have to charge it with a battery charger every time i want to ride. I keep getting stranded places cause it wont crank.
I have exterior lights connected to the battery also that are connected to a toggle switch.

my guess is the alterator doesnt charge battery?

There are a couple things it might be - the battery, the stator, the voltage regulator, or the "77" connector.

The battery is not the easiest thing to rule out, "new" batteries can often be bad or subpar. If the battery is more than a few years old, you will want to replace it anyway as each time it goes flat you shorten its life.

The stator is the part that generates electricity to charge the battery. If this part fails, your battery will not charge while riding resulting in your symptoms. Your service manual has all the pictures and details, there are a few tests you can run to determine if the stator is outputting correctly. You will need a multimeter.

The Voltage Regulator takes AC power from the stator and converts it into 14v DC for the bike to run on, if this component fails, it may cause your symptoms resulting in the bike not being able to charge. Again the service manual has the procedures, and will require a multi meter.

The "77" connector as it is called, is a 2 pin connector under the front sprocket that connects your voltage regulator to your battery. The 03-07 models have a poorly designed connector, and the pins inside it can separate, causing arcing resulting in the connector melting. A quick visual inspection of this connector (disconnect, look at both sides) will determine if this is at fault or not.
