I just bought an '06 Uly and I want to replace transmission & engine oil and air/oil filters. I'm looking at the Owner's manual and it says to use Harley oils and suggests alternatives should only be used as a last resort until HD lubricants are available. Is this "hog" wash or is it true that only HD oils be used? I'd like to use quality synthetics commonly available at the local stores instead of being hog tide to HD products and prices if I can help it.

Use the harlery full synth primary oil. Good lube for a gearbox and won't hurt your stator. For the motor, any good full syn 20w50 is fine. Amsoil is great stuff and they sponsor EBR race bikes.
